I don't disagree, but I've never seen a single "privacy" solution that wasn't ugly. I don't care how nice a fence is, a solution meant to prevent people from seeing into your yard is going to make your yard look and feel like a box. Staggered / alternating boards is probably the least awful, but it's also not as "private" as other options.

Best bet in my mind is stop caring so much about being seen by other people, though I guess if swimming in your pool naked is your jam, you might need to privacy fence for your neighbors and not yourself.

Understand that if you install this, it creates greater wind resistance on the fence.Some contractors do not sink chain link posts very deep or well concreted. Seen several fences with this, that have gone down in a strong storm.
