I thought Ego was the ticket but with more dead batteries in my garage than good ones and very little support from them, I can't recommend the brand.

Got the deal last week at Lowe's. Came with extra 5 ah battery, which I returned for $230 back, then bought 715 cfm blower which comes with 5 ah battery and charger and an extra 2.5 ah battery for 330, then returned that battery for 105 back. You end up with the same deal, but with the blower and an extra charger for 7 dollars more.
I was waiting to see this on Slickdeals to prove it's still worthwhile. Clearly it's just bots these days.

I've had my EGO systems now for about 9 years. All my original batteries still with although went diminished capabilities, the nature of batteries. But they still hold a charge and allow me to use them. Make sure that you do a reset on your batteries because at one point in time I thought two of mine were dead and once I reset the battery it worked just fine. And that was about 3 years ago. Good luck.

I haven't experienced that at all. I have 6 ego brand batteries going strong - 3 are from 9 years ago. I have some aftermarket ones that ran for a little over year and are now at the recycling center.I am not a landscaper so I don't use them every day, but I have cut down a dozen trees, fought back Himalayan Blackberry's, and cleared shrubs in addition to regular yard care and near daily use of the leaf blowers.

Purchased same deal a year ago from Lowe's. Has saved my old aging butt cutting two large lawns. Enjoy.

Getting to a human on the support phone line is difficult, but I got a replacement 7.5Ah battery shipped directly to my house for free after five or ten minutes of troubleshooting to verify mine was defective, less than a week before warranty expiration. And I got to keep the defective-not-dead battery, which I still get some use from.

Don't store them in the garage. Heat is the enemy for batteries.
From what I've read, the garage heat isn't really enough to degrade them. It's more so the cold temperatures in the winter. Regardless of which one is true, I agree that storing them inside is the way go.

I was an early adopter to the string trimmer. later I added a leaf blower. This was before home depot was their supplier. still going good on my original batteries. more recently I've added a new mower, power station, chainsaw, and upgraded to newer blower and string trimmer. I'm also in the camp of never having an issue with their batteries. customer service, idk because I have had to try it.

Yup. Just like any other batteries, they can be sensitive. But at least the Ego batteries self discharge to preserve themselves. And don't bother with aftermarket batteries. They are very cheap quality.
The aftermarket batteries are fine. 2+ years now and no issues, and it was like 1/3 the price. It's much more convenient to have 3+ more batteries ready to go, than one "genuine" EGO battery.

I'm sure they will eventually degrade, but so do EGOs. When EGO wants $150 for 1x 2.5ah...and I can get 2x 5ah knockoffs for $130? Easy choice. Half the price, twice the capacity.

EGO is doing the same thing with their batteries that HP does with their printer ink. Otherwise I love their tools.

I've also been told by green works tech that moisture is a big battery killer.

Did Lowe's give you any pushback when you tried to return the extra battery? I want to do the same but I'm worried Lowe's will decline the return of the extra battery since it is part of a deal.
