I thought Ego was the ticket but with more dead batteries in my garage than good ones and very little support from them, I can't recommend the brand.

Got the deal last week at Lowe's. Came with extra 5 ah battery, which I returned for $230 back, then bought 715 cfm blower which comes with 5 ah battery and charger and an extra 2.5 ah battery for 330, then returned that battery for 105 back. You end up with the same deal, but with the blower and an extra charger for 7 dollars more.
I was waiting to see this on Slickdeals to prove it's still worthwhile. Clearly it's just bots these days.

I've had my EGO systems now for about 9 years. All my original batteries still with although went diminished capabilities, the nature of batteries. But they still hold a charge and allow me to use them. Make sure that you do a reset on your batteries because at one point in time I thought two of mine were dead and once I reset the battery it worked just fine. And that was about 3 years ago. Good luck.

I have an older LM2102SP (600 series) that works fine and I'm overall pretty happy with. My only complaint is the cut quality goes down in late summer when the heat stresses the grass, and it lays down. The blade doesn't lift the grass enough for a good cut. I mulch mostly, but even if I bag the cut gets better but still not great. I'm sure the 800 series will be better than what I have, but I figure if I'm going to upgrade, I want the model with the best cut quality. Does anyone know if the 800 series cuts as good as the 1000 series? I know there are other features in the 1000 series that make it overall better (stronger motor, bigger battery, etc), but I'm only interested in cut quality. TIA
Are you sharpening the blade? Or tried swapping to the high lift blade?

Perhaps this is a dumb question but am I correct in assuming this is "backwards compatible" with all previous Ego batteries? I have the original Ego 20-inch push mower (LM2000) and the 4Ah battery it came with is still going pretty strong. While the old one is still working fine enough I do need to replace wheels and all of my blades are beat up bad; good excuse to upgrade to self-propelled and the slightly greater cutting width. Don't really need the extra battery -- I'm old and it's hot as heck here in the summer so I usually do my yard in two separate sections that I can do currently with one charge of the 4Ah battery each. If I can return the extra battery with Lowes for $218 this may be too good to pass up.
Yes any of their battery works.

The select cut (dual blade) makes the cut better in this model.

I agree that their batteries are ridiculously overpriced alone. But there are combo deals that make it worth it. I wouldn't get a battery that is less than 5ah imo. Most the tools will burn out the small batteries fast. But you have to understand that they have to warranty their batteries, which is where the extra cost comes. I doubt you'll have much of a warranty on the off brand batteries. In addition, there are several side by side comparisons between the batteries. The off brand batteries never last as long as the oem when running the tool.
I actually love the 2.5 for the hedge trimmer and weed wacker. It lasts a long time on those tools and really makes the weight a lot lighter for a tool you have to hold at weird angles. You are probably right about the "longevity" of EGO vs Offbrand, but both my genuine EGO batteries have deprecated pretty substantially after their 3rd year - usually right after any warranty could be used. It would be nice if EGO actually offered a discount for trading in their older batteries to make the cost of owning their official batteries better.

But as it is...I won't buy a genuine EGO battery again. For it to make financial sense, the EGO batteries would need to last 9 years with no loss in charge just to "break even" with the off brand batteries. And I have 6 of their tools - it's simply better to have more batteries that I can easily swap in/out - it's been a game changer for getting more work (like leaf blowing) done without stopping. If you don't really care about cost, then sure go drop $220 for a 5ah battery that's selling for $70 off-brand.

I also think the off-brands from 5+ years ago probably weren't the greatest as they were just coming out around then. But the current line of off-brands are getting solid reviews on Amazon (and I've used them for 2+ years now). I would recommend buying ONE and giving it a try to see how you like it.

Disagree. Purchased an off brand 5ah for less than $50. Heavy use after a year and it outperforms my Ego 2.5 . Enjoy

You should place the order using the Lowe's app on your phone, and the order will show the promotional value of ~$218 for the extra battery. I picked up my order last week and directly returned the extra battery in-store, no hassle at all. I learned this trick from here: https://slickdeals.net/f/18347842-ego-power-21-56v-self-propelled-lawn-mower-w-7-5ah-5ah-battery-charger-547-free-store-pickup?p=177282427#post177282427

This LM2135SP vs LM2156SP ($729 at acehardware) how would you rate? I know this 2135 comes with additional battery but less motor power. Not sure this comes with same faster charger like 2156SP. I bought 2156SP haven't used yet.

definitely will not fit in your car, if you wanted to take it out of the box and put it in your truck when it is folded up, it would probably fit

Should fit if you unbox it, I'm gonna guess it won't fit in the box.

But are you sure at least one of the vendors that has this deal won't give you delivery? Amazon, Lowes, and Ace (for free members of their rewards program), it should be free.
