I thought Ego was the ticket but with more dead batteries in my garage than good ones and very little support from them, I can't recommend the brand.

Got the deal last week at Lowe's. Came with extra 5 ah battery, which I returned for $230 back, then bought 715 cfm blower which comes with 5 ah battery and charger and an extra 2.5 ah battery for 330, then returned that battery for 105 back. You end up with the same deal, but with the blower and an extra charger for 7 dollars more.
I was waiting to see this on Slickdeals to prove it's still worthwhile. Clearly it's just bots these days.

I've had my EGO systems now for about 9 years. All my original batteries still with although went diminished capabilities, the nature of batteries. But they still hold a charge and allow me to use them. Make sure that you do a reset on your batteries because at one point in time I thought two of mine were dead and once I reset the battery it worked just fine. And that was about 3 years ago. Good luck.

Perhaps this is a dumb question but am I correct in assuming this is "backwards compatible" with all previous Ego batteries? I have the original Ego 20-inch push mower (LM2000) and the 4Ah battery it came with is still going pretty strong.
While the old one is still working fine enough I do need to replace wheels and all of my blades are beat up bad; good excuse to upgrade to self-propelled and the slightly greater cutting width.
Don't really need the extra battery -- I'm old and it's hot as heck here in the summer so I usually do my yard in two separate sections that I can do currently with one charge of the 4Ah battery each. If I can return the extra battery with Lowes for $218 this may be too good to pass up.
Yes, all Ego batteries will fit all Ego tools.

Lowe's lowered the price on the "free" 5.0 amp battery. Now if you plan to return it you'll only get $185 (was $218 = $33 diff Mad).. (Just saw someone else posted this above.)

Maybe there is your problem right there. You SHOULD be charging and storing your batteries INSIDE in a temperature controlled environment. This applies to any battery platform.

when a battery dies and it's under warranty , they replace it pretty quick. I had two out of 19 batteries die on me in over 9 years.

Who would you go with? I can assure you Greenworks isn't any better. I've always regretted not going Ego, but maybe they are all trash.
In your opinion is Greenworks worse and if so, why. Just curious since Costco will be discounting the Greenworks next week and I would be interested to hear your experience to help make a decision. TIA

Greenworks look and act like old style mowers. I mean their configuration is old style. Ego has more convenient configuration. One example, it's very easy to fold the ego mowers. The controls on it is more convenient to access. However, the Greenworks has more power than Ego. That means it can cut through tall or thick grass much easier than the Ego. From personal use of the Ego, I've never had it bog down on me but I never let the grass go too tall. Plus, I can just set the height higher if needed. One thing I've experienced is the self propel stop working and that's because debri covers the fan underneath. So it cuts off due to safety. I just have to blow air to clear it. I don't deny Costco's stellar return policy. If cost is a factor, you may want to look at used ones. At least in my area, there are always people selling theirs because they are moving into an apartment or something. Test it out and you've got a great machine. Battery is usually the item that you want to buy new or get lucky on a good quality.
I just watched the posted video on Costco's website of the Green works mower. In the video it appears to show the Greenworks folds for storage easily. Am I missing something? I also noticed the Greenworks mower has a metal deck for those that care - I am neutral on it. Trying to decide which to go with. Since this will be our first electric mower, Costco's return policy does reduce the risk factor.

how does this compare to this newer ryobi? https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../332032145
I'm hesitant about Ryobi mowers long term. They have a long history of bad electric mowers. They have a tendency to rush new models out and just give it a try. Maybe they'll get lucky....

Considering the 1000 series for an extra $120. See that is has has 3200 RPM vs the 800 series at 2700 and with turf type tall fescue (TTTF) being cut longer it could help lift the grass for a better cut. Anyone have experience with TTTF on the 800 or 1000 series?

I went all in on ego. Mower, blower, trimmer, snow blower. It's just ok. Gas still wins when it comes to performance.

yeah i did notice some recalls on some of their older models. i mostly have ryobi trimmer, blower and polesaw right now but i think going ego might be better at least for the mower and maybe snowblower.

I've had this mower or it's older equivalent since I moved into my house back in 2017. It's awesome. When it eventually dies I plan on getting another EGO mower the same day. Can highly recommend it.
