Menards has a knock off. Or You can actually get better deals at farm stores, Ace, garden stores, etc if you wait for a sale. I've seen $8 a bag at these types of stores. I think even Menards has it on sale sometimes.

Seeing $34.21 at Walmart, but $24.57 at Home Depot, and $19.99 at Ace Hardware

It's essentially just human waste that's been incinerated at 1200°F.

Did this fall out of favor given microplastics content

The 2 pack of milorganite at Walmart is under $18 per bag. And everybody needs 2+ bags. So this is not a deal at all

Well that and all the other things you'd normally find in a municipal sewage treatment facility. There is a movie and website both titled Biosludged which goes into detail on the unwanted surprise ingredients you'll find in Milorganite and similar processed human sewage products. Personally I'd never use this product again if I planned to grow any kind of garden or fruit or nut bearing trees.
