You can get a manual hand grinder for $20-50, an entry level electric for $50-100 or a nicer Baratza for $150+

You can even find cheaper electric burr options than $50.
I think there's a portable electric one on Amazon for like $23 or so.

I only moved to a burr grinder when I got into making espresso (my Rancilio machine was very picky about grind).
I'd argue that using this is still better than buying ground coffee.

It takes a little practice, but I can get very consistent grinds every time.
You will hear that nothing but a cone grinder will work, oddly my cone grinder that cost three times as much as my old burr grind sucks at French grinding.
To be honest I can use the cone grinder or the hand held, with a hand held I'm more opt to be grinding just a cup of coffee, with a counter grinder I'm doing half a pound.
America's Test Kitchen has an episode on this. Don't let people tell you these small grinders don't work. I think the Krups is actually a spice grinder.
Crap like the blade heats up the coffee. These people are making too much of a PhD thesis out of it.
As you use it, it doesn't take long. You just get better and better. I got so I could just mindlessly grind it.
Short burst while shaking checking repeat, not looking, done, more based on total number of seconds.
Soon, you will be grinding it, shaking it, and you're done.
