that's old school...If you don't already have a clamp, get one of these instead. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8MJTJCW

I used one on my last brake job and it was much easier. there's other variations of this too but this style worked great for my needs and was much easier to handle than the c-clamp.

Absolutely. I can close my eyes and remember spinning my finger around while trying to keep the piston centered, not tilting, despite misplacing it at least 10 years ago and getting by with the screwdriver trick until last year.
