245 Joules seems really low for surge protection, but if you think of it as just a cube/triple tap outlet it's still a good price. Little less of an eye sore than the orange construction style ones I use sometimes ha

Phillips is known for going super cheap on their surge protectors. 245 joules is a joke

I purchased it as a splitter, not as a surge protector. For that it is rated at 15A and is ETL. I consider the surge protection as a bonus so it doesn't really matter how low it is.

I have a dishwasher that plugs into a single outlet under the sink. Can this be safely used to split power to the Waterdrop under-sink water filter (that was a front page deal) or does the dishwasher need to only be plugged directly into the outlet?

The more important factor is the outlet this would connect too - make sure its a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) and you'll be fine.

Do the math: if total is under 1440W, you're good. To be safe use Ohms law x 0.8, so 15A x 120V x 0.8= 1440
