This is 100% true. I've had many issues with GameStop where games were sold as "New" when they were clearly opened and therefore "Pre-owned" or "Used". Don't trust GameStop. Only time to buy from them is when they do their "5 games for $20" kinds of deals, when you know that everything is going to be pre-owned and maybe disc-only. Normally, that occurs at the end of a generation.

If you want to spend $79+ for free shipping, this is a deal. If you want to find it for in store pick up, be prepared to drive 60+ miles if you live in a major city....

I learned a long time ago with Gamestop to never trust their inventory. Call the store before you drive anywhere if it's anything other than a new release and have them set it aside for you. I remember checking all over town for some other deal and their website claimed several stores had it - but none of them did. 🙄

Remake of Ys III from TG16 and SNES. Gamestop glitches out on trying to order (for shipping) the Switch version, even though it says In-Stock. Getting "The product '413307' isn't available for quantity '1'." when hitting submit. Lame of Gamestop.

Before this, the game was released on the PSP. This is basically that version, but somewhat enhanced. Of all the Ys games, this might actually be my favorite one.

That's called "Gamestop New"😅
One time, I bought 2 copies of the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection (on both Switch and PS4), because Gamestop had a deal on them and they were listed as "New." When the games arrived, they were both opened / pre-owned. I contacted GameStop and told them about the issue I was having and that I specifically ordered "New" copies of the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection and that the copies that arrived were not "New." In response, they shipped out 2 more copies and told me to keep the first set as a gift, this time assuring me that the incoming copies of the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection were "New." When the games arrived, I opened the package to find 2 more opened / pre-owned copies of the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection. With great haste, I reached back out to customer service. They said I could either return the games (there wasn't a store close to me, I would have had to ship them), or they'd give me 15% off my purchase as a refund. I accepted the partial refund.

Then, I figured I didn't need 4 copies of the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection, so i tried giving them away to some friends. Friend after friend said "no, I don't want to play the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection." The last friend on my list of gift-giving calls then said to me, "do you actually want to play the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection?"

It was at that point I realized that no, I did not want to play the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection. The 4 copies have sat dormant now for many moons. Thank you for listening to my tale.

I have bought many games that I have the intention to play but never have gotten to it and likely never will. But now a few of them are worth upwards of $2000+ so for the most part I have broken even. I have the same problem of ordering 2 NEW games and gotten open and taped shut copies. Gamestop is really terrible if you're trying to buy NEW. Now just to decide if I want the PS5 or Switch versions.

Unless you've sold them, you haven't broken even. 🙃

So I bought a Switch version. It came today and the box was not sealed. The game had a GameStop generic case and someone wrote on it "NEW". I called GameStop and the lady was like well it should've been sealed so she said she'll replace it. I was like you don't know GameStop very well eh? But I sent it back for a replacement. If it's still screwed up then I'll refund it. Figured I'd try. This game doesn't sell this cheap used anywhere even after paying the GameStop shipping.

Delivered to the mail yesterday and got it this morning. It definitely appeared to be opened and then re-shrinked in a cheaper shrink. The outer cardboard box for the CE wasn't even fully closed inside the shrink.
The interior contents appear to be intact and each item in the original shrink, so I can only guess one of the stores opened outer box to look at or show off the interior collectibles, and they returned it to re-shrink and then sell at discount to clear the inventory. Typical Gamestop. I fully expected it, but hoping I can get some additional $ ticked off the price because of it.
