Click on the warehouse on the bottom of your app. Then click that you want to shop your warehouse.

I'm able to easily see that my warehouse doesn't carry most weights and that I'd need to order it online.

It's warren oil, the same people who make supertech. I'm thinking if you are changing every 5000 miles (especially given that it's so cheap to do so with this), it'll be no issues. But obviously, ymmv

Interestingly, from I can see, it's $30 for 2x 5qt in-store so online is actually cheaper. I really like that the Costco app lets you check in-store inventory and prices now.

How often should I be changing the oil if the car is driven less than 5k miles a year?

Does the oil in the bottle expire?
You probably don't drive more than a few miles before engine shut down. This is bad if the car has direct injection (1000-3000 psi operating pressure). High fuel pressure will result in excessive fuel dilution in the oil. You need to drive about 30 minutes at highway speed to vaporize the fuel that's mixed in the oil. Do it once a month. Another option is to remove the fuel mixed with the oil via 3K oil change. Contaminated oil will cause excessive engine wear.

Short 3-5 mile trips = severe duty = 3K oil change interval. Don't worry about oil expiration. Internal combustion engines work best and last a long time when you run them at highway speed with fluid at normal operating temperature (Italian tune-up).

My club is charging $30 for a 2 pack. Worthwhile checking in club before pulling the online trigger because it *has* been cheaper in club in the past.
That comes out to $15 per jug, this is $13.50 per jug. How is in store cheaper?

I keep to 10k on my prius, I'm sure other cars don't like 10k but my prius has the cleanest oil I've ever seen after 10k. Not sure if that holds for other Toyota's or maybe its the hybrid system that doesn't put as much of a strain on the engine during peak times. And I drive the crap out of it, I am not the slow prius, I use to be cool. Haha
I change my oil and filter every 10K for my 2014 Prius plug-in since about 20% of the miles are all electric plus some miles (5%?) are done w/o the engine running.

The up coming sale is $6-$8 off 2 jags depending on the viscosity. This maybe same price if the store price is $30 for 2 with $8 off.

It's strange to me that a lot of peeps buy synthetic for more money and still change at 5k. Why pay for the synthetic if your changing at that interval seems like a waste of money to me. I'm at 10k each change VW turbo vehicle is 10 years old now no issues. And I short trip the crap out of it. 😜😜.
Certain viscosity only come in full synthetic. Generally speaking, 5-7.5k is when you want to change the oil depending on if you are towing and/or in a hot and dirty climate.
Remember, you could be setting in your car for hours and not move a single inch with the oil still being use. Better measure would be hours of use vs miles used. An example would be, my wife would drive 1 miles to pickup the kids (5 mins) and idle for 20 minutes waiting for them to come out and the return trip home.

That's such a small difference, 0w20 is fine.

Ahh, there is a practical balance to this; just because we used to hear 3000 miles does not mean anything today. Saying Change it often only because its $20 also is pointless and the counter is then why not change at 1000 or even 500 miles?????

If the oil is doing what its designed for going to 10,000 miles should be fine. One way to to be certain is if you drive "normal" if not then change sooner 7,500 is a sweet spot. It still costs time and effort to change oil BTW. One Certain way to be sure is to get a used oil analysis (Blackstone) for under $40 to be Sure.

I used to do 5000 OCIs and have gone up to 7500 and even tested at 10,000 and the testing came back indicating that the oil was still with spec to go longer. The only variable is driving conditions heat/cold along with your oil filter and time.

Shahhere
You can change it whenever you want. I'm not going spend $40 to "test" my oil only to find out I need to change my oil.
I recently adjusted my valves on my 15 year old Honda and the vallve train looked great inside, with no varnish, deposits or sludge. That's what I wanted out of 5K OCI. And I have the peace of mind knowing it'll easily last another 100K miles, for me or the next owner.

For $600 in oil changes over 15 years, that was money well spent, IMO.

As a Slickdealer, I was getting the oil "Free After Rebate" for the majority of that time, so I didn't actually even spend $600. It was Free, just the cost of filters.

I've seen plenty of engines after 10K OCI and they usually look like crap inside once they get over the 100K mark, (ie out of warranty) .
