Stay away from Eufy. Updated apps are untested by them and are broken leaving your cameras and money hanging out to dry and inoperable. Don't waste your money. I'm sure Costco is getting a lot of returns and will soon dump Eufy from their stores.

Bought this online towards the end of last year, then found it in store for $10 less ($99.99). Returned the online one since it was too late to cancel. We have had it installed for the past six months or so on our driveway. Fast notifications, lights up at night if it detects anything and zero battery issues. We added this to a collection of five other Eufy cameras and have no problems YMMV

I have this camera installed facing south in Sacramento, CA. Worked perfect for about a year, but this winter, it started shutting down due to battery not being able to recharge. I checked the EUFY support site and they claim it could be normal during colder months (how cold is it in California?) or prolonged overcasts, which kind of makes sense, but I do not remember this being an issue during the first year of use. With spring in full swing there should be enough sun and warmth for full charge, but the battery is still degrading requiring me to disconnect and recharge the camera about once a month, which is a pain. If not for the battery, it would be a good option. Although, another issue with EUFY cams (and I have a few), is that it sometimes stops recording and the only way to fix the issue is to remove the camera from the app and re-add it. Also a pain.

From reading user comments on Eufy solar cameras, it seems solar panel failure or water leakage are the most common causes of failure. If you haven't already, you might want to try using an external solar panel. Decent ones sell for $10 or a couple dollars more on Amazon. In fact, trying to avoid future issues, I taped over the integrated solar panel with aluminum tape covering the panel and the seems where the panel meets the camera body. I have the model where the panel is a part of the top of the camera--pretty water resistant now. I power it with a $10 panel from Amazon that's several times the size of the original.

It could also be a degrading battery, but a solar panel is worth checking. Thanks for the tip.

It sounds like yours could be a degraded battery issue. An external solar panel could help with that and extend the useful life of the camera. The camera is still working with manual charging, an external panel that's larger charges more quickly than the original panel should alleviate that issue.

None right now. If I were buying one, I'd just do it knowing I might have to deal with malfunctions not that far down the road when deciding how much I'm willing to pay for it and where I would install it.

Just curious have you tried putting a stronger solar panel on it ... Would be considered after market 5 or 7watt. Just asking I saw a better one somewhere that mounts the same

Does this integrate well with Frigate NVR?
