To anyone who has one of these... is the audio noticeably laggy?

FWIW, I don't have this specific product (BT 6.0), but I do have the black BT 5.0 one (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TQSH636). A lot of folks did report lagging issues with my black version, but I did not see any with some very quick testing using my iPhone and PC as the video source and my Anker Space A40. I have not had the chance to test it out with a plane IFE yet. I also looked into the more expensive and commonly recommended AirFly, but it also has laggy reviews, although perhaps just not as many as these cheaper devices. I get the feeling that it is not just about the BT product itself, but also the "transmitter" (plane IFE) as well as the "receiver" (headphones), and they all need to work together properly.

Don't buy it if you want a transmitter, the lack of screen to choose which receiver (e.g. Bluetooth speaker) device to pair with makes it extremely frustrating especially with multiple BT devices nearby. As a receiver this does an OK job but the battery doesn't last very long. Another caveat is that it has the male plug built-in, so it's convenient to use it as a transmitter, but in order to use it as a receiver to drive another device with male input plug (e.g. a wired earbuds), you'll have to find another female-to-female adapter.

There are better transmitters with a smaller LCD screen such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYBYMW2L and similar devices with a female sucket and a separate male-to-male adapter which make more usability sense.

It's a good concept but impractical in the airplane. Why don't use a USB-c to 3.5 mm aux cable? Cheaper and safer.

It's to enable wireless connection on legacy devices. For example, I have a vintage Sony walkman with a standard 3.5mm audio output for earbuds, with this as the transmitter, I can stream the audio to my Bose Ultra earphones. Another example, I can use this as a receiver and hardwire it to the Aux input of my vintage stereo amplifier, so that I can play music wirelessly to my amplifier/speaker setup.

I have now tried the predecessor black 5.0 model on Emirates, air France and Delta international. On Emirates you can use the single plug into their dual plug recepticle and it nicely converted to stereo with no noticeable lag. On air France and Delta the double Plug they provide doesn't allow stereo conversion. The other comments about no screen are valid as it was impossible to tell if it was connected to my headphones or not

I was looking for some sort of Bluetooth transmitter to connect to my Boss GX-1 Guitar Effects Processor to use with some Bluetooth headset. Trying to reduce long runs of wires so I bought a Wireless Guitar Tx/Rx 1/4 inch set and looking for something to plug into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Gx-1. I do think whatever transmitter I get, I will need a screen to be albe to see what device it is pairing with. Not sure if the lag is bad for just jamming by myself at home on the couch.

We use these with AirPod pro and Bose on 16 hours plane ride. They work perfectly, although we might have to recharge at the last few hours if we use them continuously.

Not for us. Use them for multiple plane rides, never an issue

That's not a simple yes or no answer. It depends on whether or not this dongle and whatever you are pairing it with can communicate with one another via a low-latency codec.
