Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

I inquired with online customer support, and they confirmed that the $700 trade-in credit is deposited as a one-time lump sum.
If anyone would like to chime in on whether or not they were able to trade in their Spectrum s26 for the s26 Plus in store? Please let me know. Need to see if it's possible now because with the already existing $700 promo it has never worked in store for getting the s26 Ultra with a Spectrum s26.

why are people against doing the deal online instead of in-store where you have to gamble with inventory and inept customer service?

Do you (or anyone else) happen to know if you can switch devices immediately after leaving the store using the online self-service portal?

I've got 1 line with Spectrum currently that I use an unlocked iPhone 17 Pro on. I have no interest in switching to Android, but want to use that line to do a free S26+, and then immediately switch back to my iPhone as soon as I leave the store.

Plan is to then wait a few days, and open a new line w/port-in to do the $200 off with trade-in on an iPhone 17e (with the hope being I can get that device for around $200 after trade + bonus credit, wait out 60 days on the 1GB plan, unlock, and give the device to a family member.

Would put my net under $300 out the door on the 17e if that all works...

You did this in store or online? I was curious if you can get multiple $700 trade promos on a single line. Terms say no but in the past, you could
In store. Snagged another one just now. However, as soon as I left the store I jumped on the chat to get the number transferred back to the original S26 and the rep is giving me grief saying too many switches and I need to disable fraud protection on the account for it to go through blah blah just throwing up walls. I will have to try another rep.

The spectrum app lets you switch devices fairly quickly and easily.
Not so - it throws up a wall saying must contact support via phone or chat to transfer to another spectrum device. Not sure if the process is just seamless if transferring to an unlocked device.

Spectrum switching their tax policy.

Previous time they charged tax on price after promo (before trade-in) and now they want to tax the full amt.
Do you mean in-store? It was always that way online.

Did similar. Some people were able to get both unlocked doing it that way after the 60 days. Others had to put the s26 back on the line and wait an additonal 60 days.
Got to get this figured out. Have 3 spectrum phones now and only one line.

I had bad luck in store. Rep accidentally proceeded s26 ultra with Moto g 2025 phone through installment option. I realized it after it processed it. I requested for return. Fine print that he showed me is implying that credit($400) will be spreading across 36 installments.
Any has good luck? Thanks
They did the same with mine. I paid off the phone in full and did online chat and they credited the trade in credit back on my card.

If they have reinstated allowing S26 series as trade in device, isn't it better to from S26 to 26plus to S26U, instead of directly jumping from 26 to 26U?

here's a solution. go to another store. dont ask any questions. just say you want s26+ or ultra on a new line ($20 is the cheapest). pay in full. the system will take care of everything. no need to ask them about the $400 discount.
I did follow exactly what you suggested, and got it done with full discount! The phone box is still sealed ... haha. Thanks!!

Gotcha... So do you think it's full tax online and the difference of the trade-in in-store?

Deal is done on the spot. No mail in for trades, no waiting around, tax only on the discounted price etc.

The flip side is that many in-store reps get shocked when they see the deal you're getting and then their envy flares up in some cases where they try to rationalize it not being possible for you to qualify for such a deal that even they have not taken advantage of.

I checked some of the old tracfones I had (2023) and one was a 2021 and they are all showing 705. I used them for adding minutes to my tracfone line. How many phone lines are safe to add to a new account?
