Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

Oh god, reading slowly too im confused. So we pay for the phone in full (~990 including tax). And once you submit the trade in, you get a credit on the account? So it just deducts future payments from the credit?
Unless you ask for it to be refunded to you.

Hit a wrinkle. My local store definitely got the memo. Only over 36 months and only one of these deals per line. Went on about how this is such a special deal. Also told me someone had the nerve to try and do three phones on the same account. Also said plenty of phones in stock. Offered to open a second line and he said I had to port a number in for this deal to work on a second line?? Said that is definitely not a requirement but he wouldn't budge. Said he would try pay in full if I ported in a new number. Have two accounts both of which have a free line and have used this weeks promotion on them once. On the account he didn't look at yesterday, I changed my new phone to an old phone that was not bought from spectrum and that is now what shows on the account. Can open a second by the gig line on line with a byod but that would ironically take away their commission. If I trade in the store and I accept the 36 months payment and convert it later and get the credit back to my card, do I pay the full tax like if trading in online or the instore tax rate? No numbers to port in lying around but could get a $5 one from Number Barn. Wondering if worth the trouble. Don't want to waste goodwill with my local store.
As always, appreciate feedback. Thanks

Also want to thank people because I didn't think of asking them to reduce my internet bill. I have a pretty good rate already, but maybe they get a commission if I make a change and less is always better!

Don't want to deal with mailing in the trade. Has worked for me in the past but too many stories about issues. May also try a different store but not that many around me.

i was thinking of just adding a line for $20 and doing a trade in for the s26+ and cancel after a month. would that work? that way i dont have to worry about staff asking questions.
I did that 2 days ago but instead of canceling. I just ported out the number to metropcs to grab another 16e for $99 plus service. I'm going to trade in the 16e to Apple for $310GC. Done. Double dip I've done this 6x now with the 16e's and bought myself a brand m5 MacBook Air.

B-e-a-utiful. Thanks OP and thanks to Jessica at my Midwest spectrum store.
One S26+ to unlock in 60 days and give to my dad, and one S26Ultra for me.
$259.48 out the door.
Traded in 2 of the $30 moto g 2025 64gb phones from Walmart.
1st year of unlimited deal free on the first line was available. And just did by the gig aka $20/month on the 2nd line, until the 60 days is done.

Thought of this too. Have done it a few times. Cost per 16e with metro this starts at $155 with service. 2nd or third line costs $140. Have a lot of credit on Apple already. Use it for Itunes. Buying movies, TV shows and subscriptions. If only I wanted an Iphone or Macbook Air.

Looks like if you did 4 of them at one time it would be a cost of 574 and trade in would be 1240 if my math is correct. I am assuming they don't have to be unlocked to trade into Apple? Would it be safe to do all of them at one time?

You should have gotten an email about the process to send it in.

Do they send a box or do you box it yourself? Is a prepaid label included?

I might be forced to do online. I'd rather not but --might not have a choice.

Went to the store today and could only do one single trade in. Rep could not process a second one, said the promos didn't apply

So when I got home, I tried online and the promos do work, but then all the way to the end the Place Order button is greyed out and can't proceed any further

Anybody else ran into the same issue ? Or know a fix ?
