Interesting reviews - Amazon notes that it's "Frequently returned due to display issues". Some wag on the Acer site says that it's great for p*********y viewing (no, that's not photography x'ed out).

VA panel though. I really dislike the viewing angles and ghosting. I cant speak for this one but I have seen other ultrawide VA panels where the outside of each edge is bad while sitting directly in the middle because of it.

Hard avoid. Seems like an insurance scam since all our monitors arrived broken in the last sale. Look it up on the site, read the comments and thank me later

Acer is performing an insurance "scam" to lose money (overall) after fighting the shipping company(S) tooth and nail for every single damaged monitor (claim by claim, tracking # by tracking #) in hopes of breaking even on the claims that actually get paid while losing big on the claims that get denied? Not to mention all the labor involved in refurbing, warehousing, shipping, customer service, and the back office claims process. LOL...okay.

Silliness aside: few people write reviews and say "my item did NOT get damaged in transit" not to mention such a large and fragile device is bound to have a fair share of shipping damage claims. That being said, perhaps Acer could package them better or use a different courier. The only real risk though MIGHT be the hassle of a return if your unit does arrived manhandled.

BTW, what are we thanking you for, baseless conjecture?

Several people received DOA monitors from Acer the last time they ran a similar deal and I'm warning others from the hassle of returns.

I'm just calling it like I see it. It wasn't a couple reviews, it was a lot more just in the SD post. I've bought several monitors including refurbs but nothing was packaged as shoddily as this.

For anyone that's wondering, Acer's website has this model at 250 nits of brightness. So that's probably the big flaw overall; the specs otherwise are really solid for this price point. It does have built-in speakers.

I never disputed there might have been DOA monitors (I even agreed it may be common)...not sure why you feel the need to debate something I never contested.

"Calling it like you see it?" The insurance scam fantasy with zero evidence? I only called that was nonsense...like I saw it. Sorry for stealing your thunder?

BTW, I love how your original comment lacked any of the poor packing references and now is alluding to the hassle of returns. Basically echoing my reply while pretending to argue with it. Funny how that works Wink

I've tried twice in the past, both times the monitor arrived physically broken.

Check your cortisol levels my dude, this is not normal. I agree with you that there might be a hassle of returns and that there were far too many of those the last time around for it to be in good faith so it seemed like a scam to me.

LOL, ad hominem because you feel attacked via the internet? "Check your cortisol levels my dude, this is not normal." (sadly it isn't though....)

Long story short; noting past experience with shipping damage is a great thing to pass on, making up iNsUrAnCe sCaMs and conspiracies...not so much. Sorry, calling it like I see it.

Good luck with whatever you are going through and hope it gets better. And feel free to have the last word, seems you may need it.

I got 3 over a year ago in a similar sale. All 3 arrived damaged. Not baseless conjecture. Fact.
