I can't speak to the Logitech equivalent, but I've been disappointed in the longevity of the Rival 3. The scroll wheel starts skipping / reverse scrolling. In some cases it was a tiny piece of lint blocking the sensor, but often enough, no amount of taking it apart and cleaning would fix it. It seemed like I would get about a year from one. After the third mouse, I realized it wasn't a fluke and gave up. Otherwise, I really, really liked it.

I probably wouldn't get this for someone as a gift. I think a lot of people are pretty picky about their hardware they use all day. I've had some good and bad experiences with steel series. Just my thoughts Big Grin

I know there are very noticeable problems with the steelseries engine and drivers, especially with these older devices.

do yourself a favor and invest few more $$ for something thats not steelseries. I really wanted to like steelseries mice but all of them, including rival 3, had issues with reverse scroll wheel within a year. I really liked the claw grip for rival 3 though. I just had to switch back to logitech
