No. $400 off the top. S26 Ultra is $899 already (not $1299). Get a cheap prepaid phone (I have a Galaxy A03s), they'll give me $5 + $700 promo credit = $705. My total will end up being $194 + tax. Pay in full. There's no way I would give up my S25 Ultra in this case. It's worth more selling on the private market.
I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.

No. Pay the cost of the phone at checkout, send in your trade-in and you'll get the FULL value applied to your account. You can call/chat and have that credit applied as a refund to your credit card.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.

Yes! And it's MUCH better. At least in TX and many other states, you make out a lot better because you only pay sales tax on the amount AFTER your trade-in is applied.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

Why does the t-mobile phone need to be paid off to trade in?
I was pretty sure that when I tried for trade-in via their website it asked if the phone was fully paid-off. But I do not see it now. Maybe I was mistaken and this requirement was for another MVNO carrier. I apologize for my mistake.

Just did this deal in the store with the 30 dollar moto g 5g from walmart. The lady was hesistant first to trade it in coz the phone is still locked and there will be a "RISK" i wont get the -$700 and $5 trade in value of the phone but we still procceded and ended $312..

Now my question how big is the risk i wont get the $705 trade in value later on?
Did you end up paying $312 and leave with the phone or did you pay more and expect the $700 trade in to post to your account? Please clarify.

I have done a similar deal before. I did it online I paid full for my phone. Sent in my trade in. Credit appeared later on my account. I call spectrum and ask to move it to my method of payment. I want to do the store version of this this time to get credited instantly but you folks got some brutality at the store. I would just go to another one if available and that is my plan if first store is jerky. Fallback I will do the online trade. Just hate fronting 1k.

I tried this in store today. I have a perfectly working phone, S8 that I wanted to trade in. The worker scanned a barcode and did a diagnostic inspection. For some reason, the phone can't do the screen test and keeps showing errors. The phone itself is in great condition because I was still using it every day. The worker was also confused, as the phone was working fine, but couldn't proceed with the test. As a result, I couldn't do the trade in in store. I am not sure if I mail it in, will it also fail the inspection?

Went to spectrum store , they are saying we have to be there in line for 1yr if not they might charge the 700$ in the bill

Just walked into spectrum store and tried to trade in a moto 5g locked to StraightTalk. They ran their mirror tool and claimed I wouldn't get the 700 promo because it's locked to the network and was showing only $1 dollar trade in. I'm very frustrated right now as that's different from what I was told before and there was no discussion, escalation or ability to fix it there.
I did it in Dallas, TX with same Moto G purchased from Walmart for $30 this morning. Spectrum internet customer and added mobile for the first time. Go to another store, just tell them you will like to purchase S26 ultra phone with new line added. Once the rep enters the details inform them you have a trade in. Phone should be on home screen because phone camera is needed for the test. The store I visited had the $700 promo with trade in advertised with the displayed phones prices. Paid $194.9+ $49 tax out the door.

If you pay in full (assuing you do that in store), $700 gets immedaitely taken off from the total and you only pay $200 ish plus taxes. I did that twice today and no issues.

I tried to do this in store today and they are asking me to trade in my current device (17pro) I order to upgrade. I told them I would like to trade in different device and they said no.

Still is a good deal. If you take advantage of this correctly, you'll pay about $200 out of pocket for an S26 Ultra that will be unlocked in 60 days and you'll own it free-and-clear.
What part of 36 monthly payments do you not understand? That is not "free" or "clear", quite the opposite in fact. ANY carrier will give you a free phone if you sign a 3-year contract, this isn't a "deal". This is completely expected and normal.

What are you smoking? There are no missing bands here.
The problem is that this is a 36-month commitment. The phone itself is exactly the same as any other carrier.
Wrong on so many levels but you do you
