No. $400 off the top. S26 Ultra is $899 already (not $1299). Get a cheap prepaid phone (I have a Galaxy A03s), they'll give me $5 + $700 promo credit = $705. My total will end up being $194 + tax. Pay in full. There's no way I would give up my S25 Ultra in this case. It's worth more selling on the private market.
I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.

No. Pay the cost of the phone at checkout, send in your trade-in and you'll get the FULL value applied to your account. You can call/chat and have that credit applied as a refund to your credit card.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.

Yes! And it's MUCH better. At least in TX and many other states, you make out a lot better because you only pay sales tax on the amount AFTER your trade-in is applied.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

Does anyone have spectrum mobile plan how is it?
For a backfill mvno carrier over Verizon's backbone for 30 dollar flat a month and no BS hidden fees it is excellent where I am in GA. For me main attraction is there is absolutely nothing hidden that I ever paid over 3 years with them then my monthly 30 dollars for 30 GB data and 5gb hotspot after 5gb usage of hotspot it throttles down to 400k or so. Bur ko extra charges like other big names like to.

*Edit: Nvmd, holy crap Simi (Ventura County) has like 1/3 less tax than LA County.

Holdup was the $94.25 tax for a Plus or Ultra? I got charged $115.50 tax for a Plus.

Trying to see if some CA Spectrum stores are charging tax on post-discounted prices, in which case I got robbed 😡
Robbed yourself, eh? It's the law in all of CA to charge tax on pre-discounted prices. This ain't Texas, partner. Post a copy of your receipt/invoice that shows this alleged robbery. The final price depends on the state tax laws, the sales tax, and the trade-in value.

Hit a wrinkle. My local store definitely got the memo. Only over 36 months and only one of these deals per line. Went on about how this is such a special deal. Also told me someone had the nerve to try and do three phones on the same account. Also said plenty of phones in stock. Offered to open a second line and he said I had to port a number in for this deal to work on a second line?? Said that is definitely not a requirement but he wouldn't budge. Said he would try pay in full if I ported in a new number. Have two accounts both of which have a free line and have used this weeks promotion on them once. On the account he didn't look at yesterday, I changed my new phone to an old phone that was not bought from spectrum and that is now what shows on the account. Can open a second by the gig line on line with a byod but that would ironically take away their commission. If I trade in the store and I accept the 36 months payment and convert it later and get the credit back to my card, do I pay the full tax like if trading in online or the instore tax rate? No numbers to port in lying around but could get a $5 one from Number Barn. Wondering if worth the trouble. Don't want to waste goodwill with my local store.
As always, appreciate feedback. Thanks

I got the Samsung a16 Verizon from Best Buy. Went to the Spectrum store but we couldn't get to the home screen unless I activated on Verizon prepaid (couldn't do that either). So, no deal for me. How do you get to the home screen, this thing is locked down good.

Verizon phones are locked and you can not to go home screen unless you active a line with them. Return the phone and buy Total Wireless or Straight talk versions.

What if I just process this online? Other than having to call them later to return the $700 to my credit card, any other downside?

I think Assurant can not validate the IMEI number, since they can not go to home screen. better not to take any change when you do online.

Whatever the final price says when you select pay in full is what you pay.

The concept is the same with this promo. Btw Spectrum internet is super cheap if you know how to work the system a little bit (zip code can also play a part.) I literally have free Spectrum internet and mobile.
How would you do this? Tia

Want to nail this Spectrum S26 Ultra promo cleanly. Planning this exact sequence **can someone who's done it confirm?**
  1. buy the phone Moto G 2025 (Straight Talk/Walmart), open the box.
    2. Go to a Spectrum store and ask to buy a Samsung U, full price upfront.
    3. Ask to add a line
    4. Disclose that I have a trade -in phone and ssk for the $700 promo credit to my credit card immediately, not in monthly credits.

    Questions:
    1. Trade-in activation: Do I need to power on/activate the Walmart Moto G prior to my visit to the store, or does Spectrum accept brand-new phones as "eligible device"?
    2. Credit guarantee: How do I confirm they'll apply $700 credit before I commit? Don't want to buy then find out on the receipt like it happened to someone here in the thread.
    4. Smooth execution: Any recommendation? Specific phrasing? Common gotchas?

    Thanks so much!
