No. $400 off the top. S26 Ultra is $899 already (not $1299). Get a cheap prepaid phone (I have a Galaxy A03s), they'll give me $5 + $700 promo credit = $705. My total will end up being $194 + tax. Pay in full. There's no way I would give up my S25 Ultra in this case. It's worth more selling on the private market.
I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.

No. Pay the cost of the phone at checkout, send in your trade-in and you'll get the FULL value applied to your account. You can call/chat and have that credit applied as a refund to your credit card.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.

Yes! And it's MUCH better. At least in TX and many other states, you make out a lot better because you only pay sales tax on the amount AFTER your trade-in is applied.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

Looks like I can do it online with my existing free line so may just do that. Comes out to a little less then doing in store and paying for a second line. Would still prefer to do in store. May give it one more try.

burnsg.. I don't like to call ppl out but.. yes.. the pompadour dude. man.. you're lucky it worked out for you. I'm so happy.. honestly cause it was frustrating the whole time I was there. he kept asking the girl for help. Arrgh... then sets me up to pay in three years instead of in full. I mean. I should've double checked it when i saw the balance due was less than $300. But when he went back to ask the "manager" and then turned it around saying i couldn't get both promo's at the store. I knew they were BS'ing me but i needed to head back to work since i was on my lunch. But yeah.. he said they didn't have any in stock but I can buy it at the store and they'll mail me the 26U and then i can do the trade in via mail. Basically getting the commission for the sale and doesn't have to process the trade in (does look like a pain to do). I'm sticking with the ladies next time.. when the S28U comes out. lol.
@digablesoul try to do at Burbank. The only issue with Burbank, their Tax is much higher.

What people don't realize is that the phones are still being mailed into ASSurant. Spectrum can do the mirror test in-store. However, the phones are still shipped to ASSurant, who then inspects them again and has the final say as to the value. Their authority overrides any trade-in value offered by Spectrum in-store. I suspect we'll be hearing back from some unhappy people who initially had received an acceptable trade-in offer from Spectrum only to be told their phone is now denied or valued at $0. In those scenarios, the promotion will not apply and the customer is on the hook for the full value of the s26 ultra.
How would this be even enforced if doing it in store? Once the store does their checks, the trade in value is applied immediately so doesn't paying the phone off in full at the time mean the phone is owned outright at that point.

Ordering online is where the risk is because you have to pay 899+tax and then hope Assurant doesn't pull any bullshit otherwise you never see the $7xx trade in credit.

Another data point for the folks that are trying to trade in S26+.

I recently had a disappointing experience at the Maria Del Rey, CA store. I had purchased my S26+ 40 days prior and attempted to trade it in. However, their mirror test failed, which seems to be a recurring issue with their new system introduced about six months ago. Despite the manual passing of the test, it took several attempts to complete it. Finally, I reached the final screen, and the associate asked if I had a previous trade-in. When I confirmed, they informed me that I needed to open a new line to take advantage of the $400 and $700 trade-in deal.

As I was contemplating this, another associate arrived and claimed that the trade-in needed to be in installments. I realized there was no reason to continue discussing this and left empty-handed.

You got done dirty. I've always asked first if they have phone I want and color is available in stock as my first question so they can't game me.

Thanks OP, worked like a charm. Traded in an iPhone 8plus, Paid in full, $250ish with tax. Free plan as a Spectrum internet customer, which I will cancel when I can unlock the phone. They also took $20 off my internet bill. Took the last S26 ultra in store they had light blue. If I wanted black they would ship but would have to mail in trade phone which I didn't want to risk.

How hard is it to understand? This isn't a contract. You can pay the phone off whenever you want.
Yeah duh, you can do that with every 36-month contract with every carrier. You're not actually locked in for 36 months with any of them. Do you know what the word "contract" means?

Yes, you can pay off the phone early, but you lose the promo credits (any unapplied credits from the $700.) That goes for every major carrier I can think of. Most changed their policies in the last couple years. In the case of this offer, you can pay for the device outright and get an immediate $400 discount and $700 promo credit without a finance agreement. That's the difference. Other carrier promos weren't this good and required a finance agreement to get it. So while it's not an iron-clad "contract", it is essentially keeping you with the carrier for 24 or 36 months so they don't claw back the credits.

With regard to your deleted comment, no, this has not been "offered by every carrier." This is by far the best S26 promo yet, as long as you have Spectrum Internet and Mobile. None have gotten anywhere near offering $1100 off the S26 Ultra + trade-in value. If there's been a better one, feel free to link the SD thread.

Depends on how you ordered and if it was in-store. If it was online, you "should" receive the $700+whatever the trade-in was worth but that's only after Assurant clears it.
True. I got that credit. But, now that they have added the line saying promotional credit will be paid in pieces for next 36 months is the scary part. Earlier when I did, they gave the credit directly and I also transferred it back to my card. But not sure if they would do it now.

I was going to go the Marina Del Rey store today to purchase the 26 Ultra and trade in my old phone. If they are only doing installments you might have saved me a trip. I guess I'll try online now.

It says "Any", that implies that if you end up with promotional credits, it will be reflected over 36 months. It says nothing about 36 months being mandatory whatsoever, just what will happen if you do end up with promotional credits. Also, if you somehow run into the issue, it can be corrected and paid in full over the phone with customer support. I personally haven't talked to the online chat about it but maybe they can too. People keep freaking out about this line but miss the "Any" and all the fearmongering in this thread and the other thread is crazy. Now, why are Spectrum stores so inconsistent? I think it's just like other brick and mortar phone stores. They have some flexibility to pick and choose some policies to enforce to improve numbers, etc. Kind of like how you shouldn't go into Metro to buy any phones because most will try to add on additional fees but some won't.

I did this deal, hoping this helps anyone who might still have questions.
  1. I bought the $29.99 straight talk moto G 2025 at Walmart.
  2. I opened it up, turned it on, and went through the set-up screen but didn't set up any of my personal info or activate it with a number
  3. Brought it to the nearest spectrum 50 minutes away

  4. I told her I wanted the pay in full option, the system had auto selected the payment plan so she had to change it to that. The system does auto select that, but they can change it, any store that says otherwise is lying.
  5. I gave her the straight talk phone, I saw her struggle with the system it didn't seem to want to take the phone even though she had selected "other"
  6. I think on her fifth try of putting in the IMEI it took the phone and said it valued at $1, and gave me $700 off. She was so relieved when it finally went through.
  7. I opted to get a new number @ a $30 plan because I ran into an issue with using my current number
  8. Out the door with the phone for $270.00. I was charged a $20 activation fee but the lady had gone through a lot to help me I didn't ask if that should be on there.

Question: Now, can I cancel the new plan after 1 month? Since the phone is paid off I don't need to continue that plan right?

If you want to get your phone unlocked, then need to keep it active on the same device for 60 calendar days. Here is official link [spectrum.net]
