I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

Opened an account yesterday and successfully did the trade in store for the S26 Ultra for $244 after tax.
Wanted to get two more lines added and do the same thing. Went back to the same store today and they processed both trade-ins successfully. But at the end there was a screen that basically said their system is flagging it as fraud so the only option I have is to add the lines and do the trade in online.
They couldn't tell me why it was flagged but said once it is, nothing they can do.
Does it make a difference if I wait a few days and try at another store? I really don't want to deal with Assurant for thr trade in.
They will also tell you what the approved trade in value is before going through the rest of the setup. Main thing is to make sure you are paying it in full.

2. Go to a Spectrum store and ask to buy a Samsung U, full price upfront.
3. Ask to add a line
4. Disclose that I have a trade -in phone and ssk for the $700 promo credit to my credit card immediately, not in monthly credits.
Questions:
1. Trade-in activation: Do I need to power on/activate the Walmart Moto G prior to my visit to the store, or does Spectrum accept brand-new phones as "eligible device"?
2. Credit guarantee: How do I confirm they'll apply $700 credit before I commit? Don't want to buy then find out on the receipt like it happened to someone here in the thread.
4. Smooth execution: Any recommendation? Specific phrasing? Common gotchas?
Thanks so much!

They also offered to add the lines via phone but that'll be a last resort so I don't have to mail the phones for trade in.
