No. $400 off the top. S26 Ultra is $899 already (not $1299). Get a cheap prepaid phone (I have a Galaxy A03s), they'll give me $5 + $700 promo credit = $705. My total will end up being $194 + tax. Pay in full. There's no way I would give up my S25 Ultra in this case. It's worth more selling on the private market.
I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.

No. Pay the cost of the phone at checkout, send in your trade-in and you'll get the FULL value applied to your account. You can call/chat and have that credit applied as a refund to your credit card.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.

Yes! And it's MUCH better. At least in TX and many other states, you make out a lot better because you only pay sales tax on the amount AFTER your trade-in is applied.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

Well...this sucks.

Opened an account yesterday and successfully did the trade in store for the S26 Ultra for $244 after tax.

Wanted to get two more lines added and do the same thing. Went back to the same store today and they processed both trade-ins successfully. But at the end there was a screen that basically said their system is flagging it as fraud so the only option I have is to add the lines and do the trade in online.

They couldn't tell me why it was flagged but said once it is, nothing they can do.

Does it make a difference if I wait a few days and try at another store? I really don't want to deal with Assurant for thr trade in.

Want to nail this Spectrum S26 Ultra promo cleanly. Planning this exact sequence **can someone who's done it confirm?**
  1. buy the phone Moto G 2025 (Straight Talk/Walmart), open the box. 2. Go to a Spectrum store and ask to buy a Samsung U, full price upfront.3. Ask to add a line4. Disclose that I have a trade -in phone and ssk for the $700 promo credit to my credit card immediately, not in monthly credits.Questions:1. Trade-in activation: Do I need to power on/activate the Walmart Moto G prior to my visit to the store, or does Spectrum accept brand-new phones as "eligible device"?2. Credit guarantee: How do I confirm they'll apply $700 credit before I commit? Don't want to buy then find out on the receipt like it happened to someone here in the thread. 4. Smooth execution: Any recommendation? Specific phrasing? Common gotchas? Thanks so much!
Yeah phone need to be powered on. I'd suggest going through the offline setup because they'll want to go into settings to pull up the imei number.

They will also tell you what the approved trade in value is before going through the rest of the setup. Main thing is to make sure you are paying it in full.

I mean what's the worst that can happen? I would just try to do the store thing until 20th, and then do online as last resort.

It appears to be very YMMV. Some stores will only allow the 36 month payment plan with trade-in and refuse to do pay in full. There's nothing special you can say to convince them if the employees have been told not to accept pay in full, dont apply the $700 credit immediately, ect. Also, there appear to be other issues and nonsense popping up as well preventing people from securing this deal. I'm going to try soon at the Mid-City Los Angeles location. Keeping my expectations low so Im not disappointed. Based on some of these posts in feeling like my odds are below 50%.

Try to ask customer service (phone) or online chat to remove/check the fraud thing for you. They have more access than the staff in the physical store.

Apparently they got a memo telling them this. In reality it seems that you can pay in full but hard to fault employees when they are told this. The verbiage for all these deals for at least the last two years always said it had to be 36 payments. It's just that it was not enforced. Many companies closing loopholes.

Talked to customer service and they said account isn't flagged so they suggested I try again at the store using a different credit card.

They also offered to add the lines via phone but that'll be a last resort so I don't have to mail the phones for trade in.

What people don't realize is that the phones are still being mailed into ASSurant. Spectrum can do the mirror test in-store. However, the phones are still shipped to ASSurant, who then inspects them again and has the final say as to the value. Their authority overrides any trade-in value offered by Spectrum in-store. I suspect we'll be hearing back from some unhappy people who initially had received an acceptable trade-in offer from Spectrum only to be told their phone is now denied or valued at $0. In those scenarios, the promotion will not apply and the customer is on the hook for the full value of the s26 ultra.

I was at NOHO West in Laurel Canyon yesterday afternoon around 5pm and was able to get S26U tradein with my old ipad 8 10.2" Tradein value $10 +$700, I paid in full with the total amount of $340 coz I have to pay tax $130.75 + $20 activation code. I was able to get activation code waive $20 via phone CS. The person who assisted me was a female. Is the guy who helped you looks like with the hairstyle of Elvis Presley?: lol. did they mentioned they do not have anymore?
burnsg.. I don't like to call ppl out but.. yes.. the pompadour dude. man.. you're lucky it worked out for you. I'm so happy.. honestly cause it was frustrating the whole time I was there. he kept asking the girl for help. Arrgh... then sets me up to pay in three years instead of in full. I mean. I should've double checked it when i saw the balance due was less than $300. But when he went back to ask the "manager" and then turned it around saying i couldn't get both promo's at the store. I knew they were BS'ing me but i needed to head back to work since i was on my lunch. But yeah.. he said they didn't have any in stock but I can buy it at the store and they'll mail me the 26U and then i can do the trade in via mail. Basically getting the commission for the sale and doesn't have to process the trade in (does look like a pain to do). I'm sticking with the ladies next time.. when the S28U comes out. lol.
