The HomeBase Professional S1 looks like a faster, more capable hub for Eufy cameras, with multi camera viewing in the app, an HDMI based NVR interface, and a built in battery that can keep it running through outages. It also supports a 3.5 inch drive, and a 2.5 inch SSD can fit with an adapter. The main drawbacks are compatibility gaps with older cameras and devices, plus reports that Eufy app performance and live view can still be slow or unreliable. It feels best suited to newer Eufy setups that need more storage and outage protection.
home security owners who already have a HomeBase S380 and want an upgrade because the S1 adds multi-camera viewing in the app and includes a built-in battery (up to ~24 hours) for power outages.
people with Wi‑Fi Eufy camera setups who want to try to improve live-view responsiveness because testers report the S1 resolves some S380 performance issues and can reduce lag when initiating connections.
buyers who are comfortable using an SSD workaround because you can use a 2.5" SSD in the S1's 3.5" bay with an adapter (so you're not locked out by drive-size differences).
homeowners who want a more "NVR-like" experience in addition to the app because the S1 exposes a full, undocumented NVR UI via HDMI and supports multi-camera streaming on the NVR interface.
loyal Eufy customers with older cameras because multiple commenters say the new HomeBase Pro S1 doesn't support enough older devices, making it "useless" for people who already own working cameras.
owners of a specific older Floodlight Cam (like a T8420S from 2021) because a commenter calls the lack of support on the HomeBase Pro S1 a serious dealbreaker even though it works great on HomeBase 3.
people buying specifically to fix Wi‑Fi decrypt/live-view slowness because one tester says the S1 does NOT fix Wi‑Fi issues in every case (including continuous recording with 2 S3 Pro cameras), and the only improvement came from changing the recording setup.
buyers who rely on Eufy's app/software experience because commenters warn that updated Eufy apps are "notoriously bad and untested" and describe poor engineering/tech support experiences.
people who need broad device compatibility before purchasing because a commenter reports the compatibility list link returns a 404 and they're concerned about verification/compatibility.

So, after installing this... initial feedback and some interesting things I didn't see in the features:
-The full NVR interface exists when you plug HDMI into it. It even supports use with touchscreens connected to the USB-C port. Starting it up at least once like this is also a requirement for security--it requests password creation for the super admin account and exposes a bunch of settings that aren't in the app.
-You can access it with their NVR web portal in addition to the regular eufy portal.
-it is able to stream multiple wireless camera on the same screen at once... both on the phone app and NVR interface.
-Far less lag reporting notifications. Much faster to initiate connections
-Supports connecting cameras (that support it) the ability to hop between your main WiFi first or directly to the Homebase depending on signal
-Breaks Homebridge to connect unsupported cameras to HomeKit and eufy-security for home assistant for now.
