If you're like me and have 5 differently sized drives (cause, let's face it...hard drives are expensive now), running mergerfs and snapraid on a linux box are the best solution with the JBOD configuration on these DAS's. Might be an enticing option for many folks.
On a side note, I'm not familiar with ORICO as a brand, but I see a lot of them on here. Rated pretty low (3.0) and doesn't have very many customer reviews doesn't instill confidence. Also, I can see USB 3.0 being a limiting factor as well, though personally I am currently using this on mine and it does fine for just our small media server setup. If used for frequent backups, then you may notice a difference there.

I recently purchased myself the ORICO 5 Bay USB 3.1 Hard Drive Enclosure (https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-Bay-...B0FH16Z53L) on sale for $102 after applying the instant $50 coupon attached to the listing so I'm curious to know how it performs compared to the one in the OP...

I recently bought the the ORICO 5 Bay USB 3.1 Hard Drive Enclosure for the very reason of formatting it w/ a JBOD configuration since I currently have a bunch of mismatched 3.5" high capacity-sized hard drives laying around my house. However, the one enclosure I bought is USB Type-C so take that for what you will.

This one seems to be a much better deal. Better than the one OP posted imo.

Yeah, that's why I bought it instead of the one in the OP, and the one in the OP seems to be more of a downgrade when you take into account the features it's lacking compared to the one I purchased. It just got delivered this past Sunday, but I don't on using it yet since I'm still currently working on editing videos for YouTube channel which has been taking up a lot of my time. However, I do plan to do a review on it for my channel.

Different use case; yours doesn't support on-board RAID. If you don't need that, doesn't matter and you saved a couple bucks. Just keep an eye on drive temps as they seem to be a common complaint with these Orico units. I paid $140 for the 5 drive 3.2/10Gbps version of OP's; seems to work as expected and quiet as just a JBOD on windows, haven't tested if it correctly passes along SN information for drive ID though.

That's understandable. I intend to use mine in the JBOD format so it def fits the bill for my use case. Thanks for the feedback.
