See photo of NSF Standard #2 (American National Standard For Food Handling Equipment) marking on the bucket.

Per NSF:

"NSF/ANSI 2-2025 covers the minimum food protection and sanitation requirements for the materials, design, fabrication, construction, and performance of food handling equipment. Such equipment includes bakery, cafeteria, kitchen, and pantry units and other handling and processing equipment like tables and components, counters, tableware, hoods, shelves, and sinks, among others.

Considerations in play here include the smoothness of angles and corners in a food zone, the usage of fasteners, latches, hinges, and the cleanability of various components for sanitation. These concerns, as well as many others, are outlined in the NSF/ANSI 2-2025 standard."

Half my buckets are old pails from sheetrock compound, but for less than $2 each, these are a great price

You know when ever I need a 5gal food grade bucket, I just go get them for free. At Costco even! The icing comes in them and I've never had them say no. (And, they even typically come with lids!) Sometimes they come already cleaned out, occasionally with residual icing, but a quick scrub with dawn and hot water and their squeaky clean in mere minutes. 🤷 ♂️

Firehouse subs sell the buckets that their pickles come in and a portion (or all) of the money is donated. When I last purchased one they were very sturdy. There is lots of info available on how to get the pixel smell out of them.
That reminds me that I have a few stuck pixels on my smellovision

Has anyone found lids that have like a rubber liner so that things stay fresh or spill free?
