The string trimmer is top ranked for light weight and balance but you give up the multi-head attachments that the DCST972 trimmer can do (I already have an edger and I prefer dedicated tools). Reviews say to replace the DeWalt head with a Husqvarna T35 bump feed head that makes it easier to reload without having to take the cartridge out. Couldn't find the head at Home Depot, but it was $35 on Amazon so I'm going to go that route.
The pruning mini chainsaw handles 6-8 inch lbranches and small trees. It doesn't have a kickback brake like my full size DeWalt chainsaw but if you don't use it on anything too big it shouldn't be a problem. Reviews say the trick to keeping the chain oil from leaking out is to store it on cardboard with the oil cap side facing down (basically keeping the oil away from the bar side where it would leak).
