NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The #1 bestselling author of The Anxious Generation and acclaimed social psychologist challenges conventional thinking about morality, politics, and religion in a way that speaks to conservatives and liberals alike—a "landmark contribution to humanity's understanding of itself" (The New York Times Book Review).

Drawing on his twenty-five years of groundbreaking research on moral psychology, Jonathan Haidt shows how moral judgments arise not from reason but from gut feelings. He shows why liberals, conservatives, and libertarians have such different intuitions about right and wrong, and he shows why each side is actually right about many of its central concerns.

In this subtle yet accessible book, Haidt gives you the key to understanding the miracle of human cooperation, as well as the curse of our eternal divisions and conflicts. If you're ready to trade in anger for understanding, read The Righteous Mind.

Jonathan Haidt is, in my opinion, the most brilliant and important thinker of our time now.

This books nails the "How can ___ vote for ____?!" and the discord between the political spectrum. And it's great for not only those with family members of opposing political views, but to help us re-humanize our fellow citizens that we've grown to have disdain for politically.

He also wrote The Happiness Hypothesis, which is the single best "self-help" book (I hate that genre/term but it's immensely helpful here) as it's grounded in psychology and philosophy, and where ancient wisdom aligns with science. Great book for anyone who feels unhappy with their job, meaning, etc. in modern society.

He also wrote The Coddling of the American Mind, which explains the phenomenon of our weakening education systems, how and why pandering to "meet students where they are" is actually harming not helping them, and a brilliant book for any parent or educator.

Finally, his most recent and most popular book is The Anxious Generation. A deep dive on the thing we all know by now which is that social media and smartphones are greatly harming people but especially children, and he provides the prognosis and some ways parents/families and society should stop promoting their use. This book has led to phone bans in schools in various places, it's become greatly influential.

That book is great and more prescient than ever. Jonathan Haidt invokes that book and Postman at times too, so I think you'll enjoy his books.
