Great deal! I paid about $250 10 years ago and we beat it up but it's still going.

Had this for 4 years and loved it. I suggest getting this vs the self-propelled version, which is heavier and drains the battery quicker. This is so light that there is no need for propulsion.

Anyone have both this and a Honda and used them on Bermuda? I had an older Kobalt 80v and it really struggled with the Bermuda.

Have had a Kobalt 80V mower, blower, chainsaw, and cultivator for many years (with a few 2A and 2.5A batteries). Have been very happy with them (they're noticeably weaker than their gasoline equivalents but it's a worthwhile trade-off for reduced weight, noise, and maintenance).
Had been thinking about ordering a battery with more capacity. Ordered the mower since it + a 5A battery + a charger is only $130 more than just a battery (currently on sale for $170).
Have read that these switched from Samsung 25R cells to EVE 25P cells (not sure what that means for heat and reliability).

A comparable EGO mower is on sale but $150 more.
Is the EGO worth that over the Kobalt version?

Is it normal that two weeks ago the list price was $699 and now it's $499?

The reviews are mixed in terms of how well this mower cuts runner grass (Bermuda, St. Augustine). What is the return process like at Lowes? If you get this, and there is nothing wrong with the mower, but just can't do the job on thick Bermuda, can you just return it and say it doesn't work for my lawn?

I think it's because Lowe's is pushing the 48v max line and the dual blade mower. Or at least it feels that way in store.

To me, go with the ego. The flurry of kobalt 80v deals posted recently makes me think Lowe's is finally killing off the line. I could be wrong, but they haven't introduced a new 80v tool in years. Greenworks makes and supports these, and the batteries are easily modified to be interoperable, but why bother.

The ego ecosystem is great: way more tools with new ones constantly being rolled out, it's sold everywhere, and off-brand replacement parts are cheap.

I have this and they works! Recommended, the thing about this batteries is they will slowly loose capacity. I only use it now to pick the leaf in falls. What I running now is a cheap 20" deck electric mower powered from 100Ah lifepo4 battery and a 1500 watts inverter (both are mounted in top of the mower). This lifepo4 battery last like 20 years and this setup works like a charm. I charge the battery on my solar cart in the yard!

And if you are in MA, there is $75 Masssave instant rebate (https://www.masssave.com/resident...nequipment) dropping it to $304. I imagine it will work on OP as well.
