The Colemans aren't designed to be refilled. You can of course, but they have thin walls that weaken with reuse, lack proper overfill protection, and can fail to seal correctly. I want my propane tanks to work as designed, and it's relatively cheap to buy the things like this that are designed for the task.

Anytime this comes up, it's usually met with, "I've refilled 15 million Coleman bottles and never had a problem" posts. Yep, you can do lots of risky things potentially never have a problem, until that 1 time comes along. I've been wearing a seat belt for nearly 50 years and never needed it.

Flame King make a refill adapter (Amazon link https://a.co/d/06gpH5OJ) that connects to a regular propane tank. There are plenty of videos on YouTube (https://youtube.com/shorts/Kftf7JDRIZo) that show you how to use it.There are also 3rd party refill adapters, but I have the Flame King version so I can only speak to it. Works well and simple enough.

You don't need to spend that much. I have been using this for a few years.

These are more heavy duty and have a purge valve and different overfill valves. Otherwise, they can all be refilled the same way and work the same.
These are rated by DOT to be refilled and transported in a vehicle. Otherwise, there are no laws about refilling the disposable ones.
You have to get an adapter and refill at home. I've never heard of a store that will fill these.
If using something intricate like a Mr Heater, you should also use a filter.

a 2-pack of 16oz propane is $10.99 at tractor supply normal price, so $22 for the 4-pack in this "deal"... https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc...-2-3813088

$12.99 for two pack for me and not the DOT refillable ones. I understand people refill them though.

I have one but I'm so lazy about filling it I end up using disposables most of the time. Now I'm wondering if I should get 4 more so I can have more on hand between fills. Anyone know how often this price is available?

Got the torch, works great with the disposable camping stove cylinders.
