Honestly this one is awful - they changed the pod design so they could patent it and charge more. You're better off buying the older model since there are way more options for cheaper pods

Passing boiling hot water through plastic pods is definitely not a good option. It's pretty shocking. People are still using these things

You're thinking of the K-Cup pods for Keurig machines. Pods for these are aluminum.

Are you just referring to the Vertuo machines compared to the original Nespressos? I've used both and prefer the Vertuo due to the ability to make much bigger cups and thicker crema. I bought a bunch of pods initially but saved and have been reusing and refilling them myself with whatever coffee I want to grind. Just need to replace the foil each time. Love the damned thing. Have been using a very similar machine to this one for years now and the thing is a workhorse.

I use these and think it's great coffee but I suspect there is plastic in the top of the pod

Of course they charge more and created a proprietary pod but the unique thing is it spins to create foam
