Castle on ABC

Anyone else watch this?

Unfortunately I missed last week's episode, so last night's didn't quite explain itself and left me lost for a little bit. It was still pretty good though.

I haven't seen many episodes (only started watching about a month ago) but I think it's a pretty good show.

It's sorta like NCIS, without the Navy: pretty bizarre murders that take a somewhat predictable turn and then magically get solved before the episode ends.

When will Castle propose to Beckett? I don't think it's an "if" anymore. She loves him, too, but is too proud and arrogant to admit it. And of course she'll survive the gunshot. nod
The show would never survive that. They have to simply keep playing up the tension and then move away from it, kind of like Scully and Mulder.

Anyone watch the last finale of the season? I wonder what next season is like...
Yes, I'm sure most of the usual posters in this thread did. And I bet Beckett will survive the gunshot. But who knows if the shooter will be caught anytime soon.

Yeah, I've heard that having 2 stars of a show get romantically involved can be dangerous to the show. But it can happen, like in Lois & Clark when Dean Cain's and Terry Hatcher's respective characters finally got married.

So will that forever prevent producers of 1-hr shows from having the male and female stars fall in love? Confused

When such a large part of what makes the show work is the sexual tension? Yes. Castle, X-Files, and Lois & Clark all depended heavily on that.

Sometimes that sexual tension can get old b/c they wind up having to rehash the same themes to avoid the 2 stars from getting serious.

There're ways to do it. You have one start dating or something. Drifting apart but coming together again somehow. Plus, eventually any show will run it's course. But it seems putting a couple like this together is the immediate kiss of death.

I agree on the theory, but I think it's reached the tipping point already. They already did the dating thing on both sides. I think they'll have a hard time bringing them back platonic next season after they threw everything including the kitchen sink at us in the fianle'.

Yeah, I agree, not to mention that at least twice last season, they got intimate with each other. Once when they had to "fake" a kiss to act like a couple and then the second time when they were in the freezer and had to keep each other warm. That song-and-dance sexual tension can only continue for so long before the viewers will tire of it.

Agreed here as well. Its a fine line between "Put them together already" and "We've already had the emotional payoff why should we continue to watch this show?". I am curious to see how they work things on Bones, as they seem to be going the route of putting the two main leads together.

I don't watch "Bones" so I can't comment there. Now that Beckett has had the closest encounter w/ death and got Castle to reveal his true feelings to her, we'll see what direction they go. But if Beckett passes out, is healed up at the hospital, but has no recollection of the moments from when she got shot, including Castle's love confession, it'll make a lot of fans roll their eyes. shake head

True. I wouldnt be surprised if that was the route that they take. At least, she will claim that she has no recollection.

glad to read that it was picked up for another season.
After that very surprising finale, i assumed the show was over.
I will vote for the "pretending she doesn't remember" bit. and then castle will go back to the ex wife again. and then she'll get in trouble again, and THEN they will kiss for real. You heard it here first.

If they do that... ugh... that would be terrible. Like Beowulf said.... you can only do so much of that song and dance before the audience get's really sick of it.
