Good question and too bad RP doesn't come right out and say so.
I have a $180/yr 5gb plan that still has hotspot on both GSMA and GSM phones, so this $120/yr would be worth it.
I know on their 'essential' website plans they do not allow it. They said if I transferred to that I would lose my hotspot, so the only option was to renew my existing $180 plan. They didn't have an ebay sale at the time that was cheaper so I didn't inquire. Only their premium plan mentions hotspot on the website.
Anyway, I moved over to US Mobile after years with red pocket. I get better reception and faster speeds.
I don't think they include hotspot in their limited data plans. The unlimited plan has 10Gb hotspot, but others say 'none'.
I just got off chat with them trying to port out a number and they confirmed the ebay did not include hotspot, but their $30/mo $300/yr plan does.
I stared with RP in 2014. No real complaints, but their plans just got more expensive. As of earlier this month I had 2 motos on RP, one Verizon the other ATT at $180/yr. each.
When these ebay sales came up it was convenient to use them extend my existing plans. They then changed it so you had to use the plan on the ebay offer which was different and could not use your existing plan, and now they don't come with hotspot. I don't use hotspot that much, but if I don't have internet it can come in handy. RP hotspot was severly throttled, especially u/l speed, but I could manage in a pinch.
I just ported both lines over to US Mobile. The porting process was painful with RP. Their website and app offer process to port but it doesn't work and to get the port pin you have to chat or contact RP. They answer right away but it takes way too time to get it done.
I gave the port pin Red Pocket provided to US Mobile via their chat, and they ask to hold a few minutes until RP responds to finish the transfer, but RP doesn't respond. Red Pocket is not set up to be automated for port out on either end.
So USMobile gives me a Port Order Number (PON) and asks me to contact RP to complete the order. So another 45 minutes on chat with RP to finish the loop, while they are trying to NOW to ask what they can do to keep me there.
Nope.
I got an email right away from US Mobile that I'm now activated (without having to chat with them).
