With the better quality brushed motors you can easily replace the brushes and replacements are readily available, though I have no idea if this is such a motor or not.
And yes, this is a big reason why brushless motors are so much better -- as long as they don't get too hot, they'll last until the bearings wear out. (Other reasons: more power, more efficient, no ozone or burned brush smell.)
But yeah, if you want a hobby-grade R/C car in 2026, pay a little extra and get one with a brushless motor. (And the same goes for power tools.)

At a minimum, youll need a brushless ESC, brushless motor, and new pinion, and a new radio since the stock one is integrated with the ESC. It might be a good idea to also replace the stock piece with a proper slipper clutch or center differential. If you do, you probably need to replace the housing as well. I bought take-off parts from Jennys RC, but you can also find full metal options on aliexpress. Or, you can just run the stock clutch and housing and see how long it lasts. There are replacement plastic pinion rings available. For street driving its probably fine, but for agressive bashing, I wouldnt expect the stock clutch to last long.
But overall, Im happy with the build. Its my fourth ARRMA, but first brushless conversion.
