This is a budget electric dirt bike that feels more like a small electric motorcycle, with strong torque, adjustable speed modes, and a tunable VOTOL EM85 controller. Build reports point to solid fun and decent suspension, with enough room for larger riders and a frame serial number for registration. The main drawbacks are rough quality control, loose or damaged hardware, loud operation, mushy or missing front brake setup, and a top speed that may be lower than advertised. It also raises serious legality concerns in many places, so it is best suited to off road use where local rules allow it.

The question is why does anyone care about votes? Is there some benefit to them or is it just Facebook crowd that cares about likes?
if someone makes a statement about the quality of an item or its ability/inability an upvote indicates either agreement or thanks. Its not 100% but it does give some additional information. In short, its not supposed to be a popularity vote, in this case there would be no reason to down vote the post on his statement. Those that did down vote are probably using it as a popularity vote to express their disapproval of this product in general. thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Check your state laws, a mom is getting prosecuted for her son seriously injuring someone on these ebikes
both should be jailed. i ridden a 20k on a road bike , its not hard not to hit some pedestrian on a bike. At worst you crash yourself away from the pedestrian and suffer the consequences.

Bought one for my son in December. Very impressed by the quality, take your time when building it. Check every nut and bolt, as we had some that were not tight from the factory, such as the handlebar risers that attached to the forks. We had to remove the top triple clamp, added some Loctite and reassembled. I tossed an Air Tag inside with the battery and he has been riding around our property for months with no issues. We really like that it has a switch that allows speed settings from 1 to 3. The suspension works great for him (70 pounds) and me (200 pounds). The motor and controller are very nice, and this was a much better option than trying to upgrade his Razor dirt bike. 100% would buy again. It does have a serial number on the frame, so it can be registered.

Key point: Do not get discouraged from buying wonderful products because of an accident.
People are going to be people.
E-bikes are easily one of the best things to become massively available.
No need to wait at stop lights, no gas. I bet you can get to the same place at the same time as a car (within 5 to 10 miles) or even faster in heavy traffic areas with an e-bike. They are wonderful
Yeah kinda. The article on this is wild.

Mother spoke with deputies months before crash

Last June, "Mejer called the Orange County Sheriff's Department to complain that someone was posting pictures of her then-13-year-old son riding an e-motorcycle," according to prosecutors.

As Mejer spoke with deputies for nearly 30 minutes, she told them that she had bought her son "a Surron e-motorcycle and knew that he drove it recklessly," the sheriff's department said.

"The deputies warned her that she could face potential criminal charges if she continued to allow him to ride the e-motorcycle, which he could not legally ride," prosecutors said.

Hours after the recent Lake Forest collision, Mejer told deputies investigating the crash that neither she nor her son owned an e-motorcycle, prosecutors said bodycam footage showed.
What???

Disruptive technology - ie. either straight up illegal already or soon will be.

California's e-motorcycle law

Deputies later determined a 2025 Surron Ultra Bee was involved in the collision, prosecutors said.

The vehicle is marketed as an off-road e-motorcycle capable of speeds up to 58 miles per hour and accelerating from 0 to 31 miles per hour in 2.3 seconds, prosecutors said. The bike is "16 times more powerful than what is legally allowed for an e-bike."

With those parameters, law enforcement determined the cycle fell under California Vehicle Code Section 405, or a motorcycle under California Vehicle Code Section 400.

Under both classifications, riders must be 16 years or older and have a motorcycle license to operate the vehicle, prosecutors said. Additionally, the vehicle needs a DMV registration, license plate, insurance, and full motorcycle equipment.

If the vehicle is not registered, "the only approved use of this e-motorcycle is either on private property or properly registered as Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) areas," according to prosecutors.

Can you lock the software/hardware to speed setting 1 for kids so they don't accidentally or intentionally go max speed?

Some how... if you had a kid, I see you getting them this bike before they can walk.

Surron e-motorcycle can go 60mph. It has no peddles and is banned in most places without a motorcycle license.

This one goes 60km/h... still fast enough to kill.
