Beware, choose replacements rather than refunds when using this promo/service. I came into the issue of choosing a refund for an item that was out of stock, and it knocked off the promo, since the total came down to under $100 after that OOS item was refunded....and I ended up paying $42 more than the checkout receipt stated. So $107.xx, instead of $65.xx Customer service was super unhelpful, and even rude. Spoke to 3 different reps via chat and one on the phone and all of them refused to do anything. I've used instacart promos in the past and have never had this issue when my items replaced or refunded made the total less than the threshold. Just a fair warning. Still can't figure out for sure why it happened to some folks and not others (seems most people actually paid less if an item got refunded, not more, and the store choice doesn't seem to be the issue)....but some others on the coupon group I'm part of on Facebook got screwed over exactly in the same way.....(one even chose replacements instead of a refund for her items, shopper refunded I guess in a haste, and same thing happened to them) so just thought I'd put a warning on here to make sure what they deliver comes up to at least $100, and add in a note insisting your shopper replaces anything out of stock, in case they're feeling lazy.
Can agree. Have faced this similar situation when using Uber promotions for groceries.

Can't agree, that wasn't my experience or many others experience on this deal and that poster didn't provide exact info whether she had a pick up or delivery order and when the delivery/pickup date was. If on Monday after the code expired, any tweaks to the order by the shopped order due to OOS/refund could be the issue. I did a pick up Saturday at Aldi and as I posted, had $15 worth of OOS items (refund requested) and paid $35 net. Wasn't charged $85.

It's an "ok" deal depending on which stores you have available for pickup in your area. For example, my local Fry's doesn't offer pickup for this deal, but Safeway/Albertson's/Sprouts do, which are much more expensive than Fry's. The stores also vary in markup and sales. I'll be checking the new weekly fliers tomorrow to see what deals here may be had this weekend.
LOL 'ok' deal. it's a great deal. you choose wisely on your shopping order. I did pick up at ALDI, most items are marked up at most about 10%. Even if all my items are marked up 10% at a store where the prices are pretty low to start with, let's say I'd pay $90oop in store shopping w/o this offer for the same $100 I order via GrubHub deal,

Now I pay $50 for what would be $90 on my own. Still 40+% off. Show me anywhere you get 40% off your groceries. Even if you save 25% it's a great deal. If I posted a deal that gas was 25% off a gallon you'd call that ok too.

I've noticed this happening with other delivery services as well such as grocery stores.

For example, a buy 2 get 2 free promo. 1 is out of stock and they don't replace it, you get charged for 3. Or buy 4 get them $1 each. 1 is out of stock so you get charged $4 each.

They really need to find a solution for this.

Did this last weekend, glad to see I might be able to take advantage of it again. I agree with others, while I haven't encountered it myself, I have seen others run into the issue if not meeting the amount because they didn't have subs selected so the total was reduced.

But it requires putting $100+ in your cart. And you're still spending $50 MIN. It's not like a blanket "40% off" as you say. You can't buy $20 and get 40%. And for gas, % off doesn't make it a deal. What's the % off of?? We have a local grocery store that allows you to earn up to $1/off a gallon at their gas stations based on how much you spend in their grocery store a month. The problem, their gas prices are always inflated where even with the discount you earn it's more expensive than other stations. So yes, if you posted a "25% off" gas at one of those stores I don't think I'd even call that "ok," but "definitely not a deal." Ok, so you, unlike many people have an Aldi. Not everyone does. And no, 40% off inflated prices to me is not a "great deal." If that's great to you, great! Value is subjective. The stores near me that participate in this deal also mark up way more than the 10% you mentioned. Don't assume everyone across the country is getting the same %. And let's not forget this is a membership deal that costs $120/yr…

Sorry I don't agree. Obviously my comments are directed at people who get GrubHub+ included either with AMZ Prime or some Credit Card perk. OR those who regularly subscribe to GrubHub+ (didn't join just for this deal).

If you live in a less populated area with few choices where to shop this, okay, I understand. But for the most part, there are stores noted that say 'no markup' or in the case of Aldi, a reasonable mark up.

The way to play any 'threshold deal' is to just hit the threshold. spend right at $100 pre tax, so the $50 off maximizes the discount. I'd never spend $130 to just get the $50 off, not worth it, and since this is repeating weekly you can stratigize what to get. I'm loading up on as many non-perishables as I can. (canned/bottled goods, paper, foil, shelf stable items)

There's a wide berth with the percentage situation here. My feeling is anything over a 10-15% savings on a general grocery order of what you want to buy is indeed a deal. That takes into account pick up stores that have as much as a 35%-40% markup.over their in store price.

As for the points/gasoline example, it takes a while to get enough points to get a $1 off a gallon unless there's some special promos for a lot of points. Even then, if you get 15 gallons of gas, that's maybe $15 you saved, but as you point out, if the station you're forced to use is charging 35c more a gallon, suddenly you're only saving about $9. You have to crunch the numbers, but there's a convenience factor here too. Save 15-40%, sit at your desk and shop, and someone else does the work shopping for you. You're in and out in less than 10 minutes.

If it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work, but anything over a 10% savings is a good deal on groceries and the higher percentage like 30-40% is a great deal IMO. and that percentage is based on what you would NORMALLY PAY HAD YOU GONE TO STORE X AND SHOPPED YOURSELF.

Wow, couldn't disagree more. 10% off NOT a deal to me. Wow. Guess you have more disposable income than me. You also didn't deny my refutation of your blanket (mistaken) statement that this is "40% off." It MAY be that, IF you spend $100+ (which you didn't dispute of course), and the 40% off is off an inflated price. And what's to "agree with" in my comment (none of which you refuted), it IS ultimately only available to members paying $120/yr! Prices ARE marked up in many stores. MANY people around the country don't have the same stores you do/you mistakenly assume they do. I also don't need a lecture from you on "crunching the numbers." I'm done commenting on this thread so as to not artificially juice/bump it, which I know you absolutely LOVE doing (and unfortunately often do) to your own threads. As I said: VALUE IS SUBJECTIVE. No debate.

I never had an issue with a promo code being knocked off on pick up orders. Can't you simply cancel the order if your promo falls off ?
