This DeWalt starter kit centers on the 9Ah FlexVolt battery and charger, with the free tool making the bundle especially attractive for rotary hammer, router, or grinder buyers. The charger and battery are effectively treated as one SKU, and the charger is said to slow down charging depending on the battery. The offer page can be hard to navigate, but the free tools appear through the shop this offer link under the $229 price. The main caution is that returning the free tool can trigger Home Depot account issues, and some included tools do not get the full FlexVolt Advantage power boost.
The offer can effectively bundle a 9Ah FlexVolt battery with a fast charger and a rotary hammer option.
The free-tool selection is accessible through the "shop this offer" link under the $229 price.
The battery and charger appear to be packaged together as one combined value rather than separate items.
The offer includes free shipping and a defined set of eligible free-tool choices.
Charging speed can be reduced depending on which battery is used.
Home Depot fulfillment can cancel the battery kit while still delivering only the free tool, leaving the buyer to handle returns.
Some included tools may not be Flexvolt Advantage, which can limit performance to extended runtime instead of the power boost.
Returning tools on Home Depot BOGO-style deals can be risky because account bans have been reported after returns.

Anyone else getting same.
In past I could see product availability and price for comparison
Only now that I added what I wanted to cart, manually search items out, went back to battery and refreshed several times the product detail button finally came up. From there it took me to listed items. Just weird.
I really don't ever remember looking at an item and having to click on product detail to actually go to product page. Started noticing that when I was doing searches at work. A needless step in my opinion.
I need a new grinder (18 year old 18v one finally crapping out) and would definitely jump on this if it was the step up with flexvolt advantage.

The old model flexvolt advantage grinder (DCG416B) has been on amazon for $140 for quite a while, was hoping it would drop further but may just pull the trigger.
Not sure it is worth the risk hacking the OP deal to get the good charger and 9AH battery which I could use. Though I've only hacked one or two times before and it has been a couple years.
Grinders with the same spec as this deal have been on clearance in local stores for $100, but they're pretty wimpy power wise, 800 watt vs 1500.

Reminds me of bounty paper towels, always trying to confuse people into buying stuff they don't need. Don't even get me stared on the power stack.
Even the standard 20V batteries, there are ones with higher output (like the newer 5AH, but not the older 5AH) and ones with lower, and this isn't really stated anywhere other than people online who have figured out which are which.
I think probably the best value in a 20V grinder right now is the 416b at $140 on amazon, an older model but 1500+ watt output and takes both 20V and flexvolt batteries.
