You could return the tool, but doing so is risky these days. Home Depot have been banning accounts that return tools on their BOGO deals. A safer option would be to sell the tool locally on Marketplace or Offer Up these days. But yes, this deal is hackable.

It shows that it has special offer, but offers no link to items like it has in the past.
Anyone else getting same.
In past I could see product availability and price for comparison
I clicked "view full product details" under the add to cart button on the battery kit. That led me to another screen where you can click the "free item" area or "shop this offer" which will take you to the select tools available in the offer shown on the right sidebar of the screen. It shows the free tool price but I had to click the actual link of the tool itself for it to open up the tool independently where I could finally see local availability.

Yeh I saw that in thread, but I went to page several time and refreshed and nothing.
Only now that I added what I wanted to cart, manually search items out, went back to battery and refreshed several times the product detail button finally came up. From there it took me to listed items. Just weird.
I really don't ever remember looking at an item and having to click on product detail to actually go to product page. Started noticing that when I was doing searches at work. A needless step in my opinion.

Sort of annoying that several of the tools are not Flexvolt Advantage. Yes they'll take the flexvolt battery, but won't get the 30% or so power boost from using it, just the extended runtime. Well that is a fact that is hard to verify other than from their marketing materials, in theory it should still perform better than a 20v battery (which is really just an 18v battery) and the increased sustained current that the 60V can deliver.

I need a new grinder (18 year old 18v one finally crapping out) and would definitely jump on this if it was the step up with flexvolt advantage.
If you are interested in the Flexvolt grinder, HD has a deal where the grinder comes with a 6 Ah Flexvolt battery and charger at no additional cost.

Yeah I saw that one, the 6AH battery and slower charger without fan, not really a good deal. I'd prefer the 20V anyway so I can use either battery with it, I don't need a ton of power, the runtime is what I'm after since the grinder really eats through batteries. But the extra boost in power is nice so it doesn't bog down.

The old model flexvolt advantage grinder (DCG416B) has been on amazon for $140 for quite a while, was hoping it would drop further but may just pull the trigger.

Not sure it is worth the risk hacking the OP deal to get the good charger and 9AH battery which I could use. Though I've only hacked one or two times before and it has been a couple years.

Grinders with the same spec as this deal have been on clearance in local stores for $100, but they're pretty wimpy power wise, 800 watt vs 1500.

Home Depot is really banning people for returning bundled deals? Why not just fix their system so you can't "hack" the deal any more? Or are they banning people from excessive returns in general and not just those that return to "hack" the deals? Just about ANY retailer has a threshold for returns that they don't tell you about. I got hit by eBay once and had to appeal to customer service because I kept receiving damaged goods at one point. Now I'm extremely careful about what I buy there and even try to avoid as much as possible.

Sorry. I missed that you wrote Flexvolt Advantage. Those batteries last me all day. I use a Flexvolt Rotary Hammer with 6 Ah and 9 Ah batteries for the little bit of work I need to do on concrete.

Taco_Doomsday is correct and I should have mentioned in my original reply. You can "hack" a deal or two a year, but not more than that as you run the risk risk of being banned. Has Taco_Doomsday said, the safer option is to flight item you don't want on FB Marketplace. The other work around is to pay cash in-store if both items are available. Don't put any thing into the checkout system like your email and phone number. That creates a scenario in which HD/Lowe's can't track you previous order history and see that you return a lot of BOGO or buy-more-save-more deals. Still be prepared that they may not accept the single returned item, so don't open the item you want until you have returned the item you don't want. In store purchases with cash on "hacked" deals is also the best way to buy items for reselling. Since none of your personal information is on the receipt, you can easily give the buyer(s) a scanned PDF copy of the paper receipt and they can claim the warranty without issue. This makes the resale process much safer for the buy since they will not loose our on the warranty and you will be able to get a better price.

Dewalt really needs to standardize their branding and terminology. First you needed either the Home Depot "Flexvolt Advantage" or Lowes "Power Detect" to be able to use the 60V battery with a 20V device. Now with the newer devices, any "Flexvolt 20/60V max" battery can run at 20V. It won't physically install on the older stuff (or maybe the latest 60V batteries will, the older would not), but they all fit on the newer tools.

Reminds me of bounty paper towels, always trying to confuse people into buying stuff they don't need. Don't even get me stared on the power stack.

Even the standard 20V batteries, there are ones with higher output (like the newer 5AH, but not the older 5AH) and ones with lower, and this isn't really stated anywhere other than people online who have figured out which are which.

I think probably the best value in a 20V grinder right now is the 416b at $140 on amazon, an older model but 1500+ watt output and takes both 20V and flexvolt batteries.

Pay cash. Can't track cash. But you then only have 30days to return if you decide not to keep it.
