Great deal. Keeps me from falling off a ladder and multiple neighbors have commented on how cool of a tool it is, so you get street cred as an added bonus. I "needed" this to make my HOA happy and paid like $130 a couple years ago, so $80 in 2026 dollars is awesome

Is this still a good deal if I need a battery, or wait for a combo? I am looking for a hedge trimmer with a pole for light work (once or twice a year).

best I have seen with Bat is $109. that 2ah battery is about that price. you could probably grab a Bat and Charger off ebay. I have so many dang chargers,

If you're entirely new to Ryobi i would probably still get this and then get one of the starter sets with 5/6/7 tools and batteries when they go on sale - if you can wait
Ryobi is awesone for dyi you wont regret

Edit: or also get this and you're all set for your trimming needs

Just to add, if you have DeWalt or Ridgid you can still use the Ryobi tools, you just need an adapter from Amazon. I am in the Ridgid family but also have a few Ryobi tools. I just use the converers, works well.

For average homeowners there is no better brand current than Ryobi.
