I know Phoinix is staff but also posts with bots, as evidenced by yet another lazy post. No info on what this product or service is, how much the service costs going forward etc. It's a spray and pray approach just looking for clicks. I'm not a fan of this game.

Unfortunately I can't research every product I post. I prefer to dedicate my time highlighting good prices. And we have wonderful community to give feedback on deals and products. Sometimes deals last less time than it would take to do such research. Also probably people who are interested in this product already know something about it.

I see…so you don't have time to research before you post. As I said, spray and pray. If you really cared about "the community" you would take 30 seconds to supplement your bot/just a link posts with just a sentence of something helpful about the "deal." Per your admission you're too busy to do that and expect readers to do all the work while you collect $ for the click-thru links. As I said, not a fan of the game. Reddit calls these "low effort" posts. Agree.

Maybe only posts deals on products you know to be good? Your automated posting decreases the quality of the website.

I post every thread myself. Only form-filling part is automated to save time for sifting through thousands of products/prices and finding good deals. I check price history, SD history, filter by ratings, stats, etc for every deal I post.

Heads up
Amex offers has $60 off $300 at GPS Store - as always tax puts this over $300 triggering the offer.

https://www.thegpsstore.com/Brand...enger-Plus

I originally noticed the Garmin Inreach mini 2 (release 02/2022) at $250, but struggled to get over the $300 trigger and did not want to spend for the mini 3 plus (release 12/2025)

This item (release 09/2024) has the upgraded satellite guts and features, so am purchasing to future proof and first time trying the inreach ecosphere - so no personal experience yet.

In the alternative Scheels has $30 off $175 Amex offer

Edit: if no offer is shown and you are unfamiliar with Amex offers please note the website/app can only display some 40 offers at a time - so you have to manually select and add a handful of offers then close app/browser and in refresh more and more offers will populate until none left - rinse and repeat

These Garmin manufacturer sales are always across the board for all retailers, so when Garmin products drop I aways seek to double stack available coupon/offers for merchants - Amazon is no better here

The $300 price point for the Garmin inReach Messenger Plus is a strong deal. At a 40% discount ($200 off the standard $500 MSRP), this sale prices the upgraded "Plus" unit at the standard retail cost of the older, baseline inReach Messenger model.
Hardware Overview

The Garmin inReach Messenger Plus is a compact satellite communicator operating on the global Iridium satellite network. It is designed to pair via Bluetooth with a smartphone using the Garmin Messenger app, providing seamless communication when outside of cellular range.

Key Technical Specifications:
  • Media Transmission: This is the first consumer device in its class capable of sending photos and 30-second voice memos off-grid via satellite.
  • Expanded Texting: The text character limit is 1,600 characters per message, a substantial increase from the 160-character limit on standard Garmin devices.
  • Battery Performance: The battery yields up to 600 hours (approximately 25 days) on 10-minute tracking intervals in low-power mode. It also features reverse charging, allowing the unit to act as a power bank to transfer an emergency charge to a depleted smartphone.
  • Antenna System: It utilizes a 35.9 dBm flat panel antenna, providing stronger signal receptivity and faster transmission times compared to the helical antennas on previous models like the inReach Mini 2.
  • Physical Footprint: The unit weighs 4.1 ounces, measures 3.1" x 2.5" x 0.9", and carries an IPX7 waterproof rating (capable of submersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes).
Operational Constraints

While the device features a basic on-board screen for initiating an SOS, reading incoming texts, and utilizing the "TracBack" feature to retrace a path, it lacks on-device mapping. It is engineered to function as a peripheral relay for a smartphone rather than a standalone navigation tool.

Furthermore, transmitting heavier data formats like photos and voice memos requires greater data consumption. Operating the device necessitates an active Garmin satellite subscription. Plans start at approximately $15 per month for basic tracking, though utilizing the photo and voice features practically requires the standard $30 per month plan or higher.

Verdict

Procuring the Messenger Plus at $300 is a highly practical acquisition. The $200 reduction in upfront hardware costs effectively offsets the requisite satellite data subscription for the first half-year of use. If transmission of text, photo, and voice data outside of cellular range is a necessary capability, this is currently the top-tier hardware in the consumer market, and $300 is the most aggressive price point it has seen.

Explaining the New Garmin inReach Subscription Plans:
https://www.treelinereview.com/ne...tion-plans

From this article:

No more annual subscription option

No more annual program fee for month-to-month subscription

Cheapest plan is still $15/month, but the number of text messages increased from 10 to 50

Mid plan decreased from $35 to $30/month AND the included number of text messages increased from 40 to 150

Unlimited plan decreased from $65 to $50/month AND premium weather is included in unlimited text

Premium, extended, and marine weather forecasts now count as 1 text (previously they were $1 each)

$8 Enabled Plan replaces plan suspension

Deactivation requires paying a $40 activation fee to use it again (Pro tip: if you suspend for more than 5 months continuously, then it makes sense to pay the $40 fee; otherwise, it's cheaper to pay $8/month for the Enabled Plan)

Good lord. Imagine feeling so entitled to want to be spoon fed a decision to buy something, AND not knowing about Garmin in the first place, AND complaining about an otherwise free site/service.
