I got one during Black Friday last year for $750 + 20% PayPal cashback. It's my first Mac and pretty impressed by the machine. It's very compact, great battery life, but still quite powerful. I do raw photo editing with noise reduction software (DxO) and also 4K video editing with Davinci Resolve Studio and it handles those things quite well. The 256 GB can sometimes feel a little limiting but not impossible to work with. Next time I upgrade I will probably go for at least 512 though. I looked hard at Pro models too but the compact form of the Air does make a difference in my day to day use. I'm more likely to grab it and use it due to how small and light it is compared to a bigger brick of a machine.

Even if your Costco shows it in stock...and even if you call them and they say it's in stock....ask them if they physically have the stock.

Drive 30 minutes to a Costco which had 5 ....paid for one and then the person who gets it for you from their storage said they were all sold out.

Same (but for me).
Yes, I have a M3P-MBP and a M2U-Studio but the Neo is fantastic as a cheap little $500 portable Mac. As long as one doesn't need to do tasks > 60 seconds or so (read: professional photo processing, professional video processing) and one can keep gaming expectations in firm check, it's a simply fantastic machine - zero fan noise, great keyboard, great trackpad, great screen, good speakers, plus full Messages integration, all for $499 plus tax. Unbeatable. Finance for a year to get 50% off interest rate as 'cash back' (kinda, due to TVM), and 3% Apple Cash Back with Apple Card.

No issues. I have it in my lap while I am watching TV. It does not even have a fan. Runs cool as a cucumber! (Of course, the last bit is not true!)

Same question😀

edit: I got it, you can use the costco app, select warehouse section, then select search warhouse inventory, then use the code 1814012, after searching, there will also show a button to show search nearby

People asking this have a fundamental misunderstanding of how modern CPUs work.

It's not 40% more than a somewhat comparable Neo (even before you take into account the RAM disparity). And even vs. the base Neo, 40% might sound impressive, but it's a difference of $200. There's no universe in which the Neo is a better deal.

None? What if you live in a universe where you have $500 to spend, but don't have $700?
Have you tried the Neo? With day to day tasks, it works just fine, and does normal everyday things the same speed as the other M-based Macs.

It's still not a better deal. I didn't say it was a bad laptop or that one shouldn't buy it if they can't stretch out an extra $200. In fact, I don't believe there has ever been a laptop as good at the $500 price point as the Neo. But a Neo at $500 (or, more likely, $600 for fairness of comparison) is still not a better deal than an M4 at $700.

The Neo at 8/256 is $499 to anyone in the USA; Costco's Air is $700 (and requires a Costco membership).
The Neo represents a much better deal - it gets people into a great Mac.
It's only if you need and can use the extra 8GB (and a CPU bump) that the Air even enters into the picture. And one must weigh if that's worth $200. And a Costco membership. Smilie
