So is it safe to assume that once the phone is activated with the original TW sim that it shipped with that it would also work without unlocking if I insert an already active TF or ST sim?
While a locked TW phone will accept a SIM from TF, ST, you MIGHT have problem. In the past, when TF detected that the phone is being used with a SIM that was not originally "paired" to that phone's IMEI in their database, they can shut off your service. More recently, they auto-pair the TF or ST SIM that you put in and update their database. But they don't do that CONSISTENTLY. So, do it YOURSELF at the risk of having your service shut off. It's better to contact TF or ST (depending on which SIM you use) and have them pair the new SIM to the phone.

I am in the same situation as you , but only with two lines. When i add a new line, the phone is fee, but line is 25/mo. Did you transfer a number for the new line?
I didn't transfer a number. It looks like I'll choose a new number on activation. I paid $15 for the phone thus far. I can't find the message now but saw something to the effect that it would be $53 per month for the line but it didn't make sense so I'll wait and see.

My phone got delivered yesterday afternoon (after a delay because of weekend). The setup was smooth - once I completed my initial setup and connected my phone to WiFi, there were multiple security/OS updates that came in. After I was done with all, the e-sim automatically showed up on my device (I had already completed the phone activation prior to installing updates) after a while.
Do you know how long exactly from when you ordered to delivered? I ordered May 9th 1:00am est and I still don't even have a tracking number.

How'd you get it to $15?

Can I transfer a current Tracfone with minutes/text/data to this phone and will be eligible to unlock after a year of usage?

I ordered May 7th, shipped May 8th, received May 12th. Even got a confirmation email from Chase credit card, a $10 credit was applied because of special deal with Total wireless. So this came out to $30 for me.

I believe this may have recently changed, but can't say for every phone, every time. Recently I got 2 Moto G Power phones from Straight Talk. I moved the service to other devices shortly after activating them. I was fully expecting to need to call CS to rebrand to TracFone, but tried activating on TF with BYOP SIMs anyway. I was expecting that after entering the IMEIs I would get the error that the "ESN belongs to another brand", or whatever that error was, but I didn't get the error, and they activated on TF just fine (transfer of existing TF lines). No rebranding was necessary.
Just for kicks I checked in TF's website for activating with this phone, and after entering IMEI, it said there was a problem. This was after I already activated it with TW, so maybe that had an effect. I may have to request TF to rebrand when my included first month of TW service ends. The bootup screen shows a Verizon logo, not total wireless or Tracfone. The settings about phone shows it's provisioned for Tracfone interestingly, out of the box, even after Total wireless activation. Even the sim card included begins with a 'TFXXXXX' which is standard for Tracfone SIMs.

Unlock for this phone after 1 year doesn't matter for a lot of us who are already on a Verizon MNVO, like Tracfone, we can just use this phone before the 1 year expiration. It's only for those interested in fully unlocking to use on Tmobile or AT&T that have to wait the full year.

Pair this with a cheap Bluetooth gaming controller, and you've got a decent gaming device (emulation or Android games or to play cloud games) with a bright OLED screen. Definitely worth the $30 effective price with a Chase card, even if this remains locked.
