You are speculating or know for a fact?
I can see the future Big Grin . I'm basing it on my experience of adding a 90-day plan to get a phone activated in Dec 2025 with a tranfer and didn't get unlocked in Feb 2026. The phone was unlocked in April, 60 days from when the plan was added, not 60 days from activation in Dec 2025. We'll see next year after 1/20/27 if my vision of the future is correct or not.

So $40/month x 12 months = this phone + 1 year of service (about $270). So this phone is about $130. Not very bad, I think, if you are at the end of your current plan.

I have the 25% cb offer on my two Chase cards, which would make this a $30 phone. But I already got one from Metro in Feb and will be unlocked next Feb.

Not true. Please don't come here and spew comments if you have no clue what you're talking about. You need 1 month of paid service and 365 DAYS!!! Not a year of paid service.
All Verizon related providers require 365 active noninterrupted service to unlock. Is this any different?

Same with me, and I also see Capitalone shopping $8 on their website and then I have an email from them now after the first visit 3 hours ago. The email says "Earn $120 back at Total Wireless" clearly showing for the Moto G stylus 2025. Not sure whether they really honor it with my purchase.

Is service redeemed via rewards counted as paid service?

Did your new TF locked phone come with its own plan? If not, I can't argue with your success, but I know I had to add plans to my TF phones activated in Dec 2025 with transfer because they didn't unlock in Feb 2026, and TF Unlocking Dept told me the phones didn't have any paid service.

That should work, I used to do it many times in the past.
How does one transfer an active Tracfone plan to a Total Wireless phone such as this? Is there an online way, or do I have to contact TF customer service, seems like it can be a hit or miss with a human customer service agent, and I'd rather do it more reliably if there's an automatic online way.

In the past when I want to transfer my TF plan to a new TF phone, I just go to the activate online section, and select I have an existing TF number already, and that does it smoothly. Does this method work with Total Wireless phones too?

Yep, good days are gone. All these Tracphone/totalwireless/straightalk wireliess/walmart family phones can only be unlocked after 365 days of paid service

To use this phone with TF service, you'll need to ask a TF rep to "rebrand" it as a TF phone (basically register its original TW SIM as a TF SIM). That way, when you activate it, it will be activated on TF instead of TW. You will need a rep's help, there's no way to do it yourself.

Yes, not good deal unless you plan to use it on TW or another Verizon Value brand for a year.
You mean if I'm on Verizon I can use this phone? And that it will still unlock in a year?

Are you using Verizon Postpaid? Verizon Value brands include Total Wireless, Tracfone, Straight Talk, Simple Mobile, Walmart Family Mobile, Visible, Verizon Prepaid but does not include Verizon postpaid.

I believe this may have recently changed, but can't say for every phone, every time. Recently I got 2 Moto G Power phones from Straight Talk. I moved the service to other devices shortly after activating them. I was fully expecting to need to call CS to rebrand to TracFone, but tried activating on TF with BYOP SIMs anyway. I was expecting that after entering the IMEIs I would get the error that the "ESN belongs to another brand", or whatever that error was, but I didn't get the error, and they activated on TF just fine (transfer of existing TF lines). No rebranding was necessary.
