What if I never activate TW sim and keep it to use on WiFi only. Will they charge me next month?

They don't usually ship on weekends - sometimes their email goes to spam but I've also received a notice after the phone actually shipped.
If you have a free UPS account it's easier to track since it will show in their system. If UPS doesn't show as pending it hasn't finished processing yet.
Thanks. The confirmation email was in spam. I was able to use that email to get the order number and check the status. Hopefully it ships today.

How do I cancel the plan on their mobile app? What if I never activated it, is that an issue?

Mine was new.

I called customer service and they answered in about 5 minutes. I was able to transfer service to a Galaxy A15 I got from Tracfone 1.5 years ago that sat without service since December of last year. I also had CS rebrand the phone to Tracfone.

After this monthly plan ends, I'm going to add 2 Tracfone, flip phones I got from QVC ($30), for 2 years of service on the rebranded Stylus.

Can someone recommend a cheap case?

This one [amazon.com] worked fine for me.

I have one but TBH I just prefer to stick a cable in it to be sure. I can't tell you how many times the wireless chargers had an issue mainly due to my error. The case I linked is fine, it has a slot for the stylus and it's a good basic case that fits well.

Is there a limit to how many phones you can order in a certain time period from Straight Talk and/or Total Wireless combined or separately?

I don't currently have service with either company, but I ordered a phone from Straight Talk in December and another in January because I needed a new phone and later bought a backup. I'd like to order one from Total for a family member who lost their phone, but can get by on wifi for a while, but I don't want to end up on some blacklist and have none of my future orders through any of these Verizon-linked companies go through because there's a secret limit/time, like Best Buy uses. I can use a different credit card, but I have to use the same shipping address.

If you never activate the device, it will never unlock. But, of course, it will work on Wi-Fi out of the box.

You're paying for the right to start the unlock clock when you pay for the first month of service at check out,vso why not start the unlock clock? If you decide you don't want the phone in a year or 18 months, it will be unlocked and you can easily sell it for more than you paid for it.

You do not have to cancel prepaid service. Just don't pay for the second month and you won't have service after the first month. Make sure that you do NOT have auto pay enabled. If you do, your payment method will automatically be charged every month. Once auto pay is disabled (if you had it turned on), you won't be charged after the first month.

edit: you won't owe them more to keep the phone. The phone is yours to keep, as soon as you get it. I confused two companies' unlock policies a bit so I'd like to clarify: Metro is the company that only requires you pay for one month and starts an unlock clock 365 days from the day you activate the phone/start service. The phone/line doesn't have to have paid service for the entire 365 days; only the purchase of your first (1) month of paid service is required.

Total requires 365 days of paid service and that 365 day clock starts from the day you activate your first day of paid service.

Thanks. I got the case and a $20 wireless charger [amazon.com] that was 50% off. I can always return the charger if it is flaky.

Thank you so much! I thought you need to have a year of prepaid monthly service to get it unlocked at the end of the term but based on what you are saying you just need to active and not renew or pay for another month. I was worried about them saying that I owe them or something.

Phones do require 12 months of service to unlock - policy changed 1/20/26 (they required 60 days before that so not sure where the 30 days came from). It's always best to read the written policy on the website for yourself when it's important.
Phone will be 2yrs old by the time it unlocks so resale will likely be a waste of time - Moto phones only get minimal updates (& they're slow).
