The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
In summary, same device available via:
Metro for $65 ... auto unlocks in 365 days, continuing the service after 1st month/initial payment not required
Total Wireless for $40 ... will never unlock unless paid for 1 whole year of service (which is not worth - better use case is to use it as wifi only or cheaper service via rebranding to tracfone etc, ymmv)

Thanks for the response, to be clear, I have to rebrand it first with a live TF customer person, then I can do online activate & transfer TF service as if it was a regular TF phone? Does the 'rebrand' process factory-reset the phone?
I think the key here is you moved your TW service to other devices shortly activating, which 'freed' up the the TW phone to accept TF activation. I don't think this would work for others who are new to this, especially if they are still active on the 1st month of the TW plan.

Also Motorola in general is having a huge sale on all their phones not just the stylus, including 1TB razors which is really tempting. All unlocked and ready to go on any carrier.
For the record, I have two Motorola phones, already unlocked. The Edge is a good phone, got it hacked unlocked a year ago. However, still slower than Samsung 21. All of them slower than iPhone 16e...
This Stylus is kinda deal because of its size can be used as an Android tablet.
