The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
In summary, same device available via:
Metro for $65 ... auto unlocks in 365 days, continuing the service after 1st month/initial payment not required
Total Wireless for $40 ... will never unlock unless paid for 1 whole year of service (which is not worth - better use case is to use it as wifi only or cheaper service via rebranding to tracfone etc, ymmv)

Total wireless on my Black List now.
As a parent, I use mid range phones to entertain my young kids on wifi and hotspots. 128gb storage, a processor on par of Samsung A35. SD6G3 and the most important part, 8 GB of Ram using Android 15. Solid offer. To boot It's super fast charging and ip68.
MDU is the last thing I'm worried about.
The only things that are poor about this phone is battery life, camera quality in poor lighting, wireless charging. $25 for when bundled for 4 together. It's easy decision if unlocking is not part of the purchase.
I was trying to port out my helium number. But it's pricey to do in-store at total wireless!

I was also able to use the chat function earlier to ask for updates but they weren't too helpful (just told me it's still in process and waiting to be shipped). We'll see if/when it ships...
