Is this sensor compatible with their other systems? Seems cheaper than replacement rain gauge for the larger/wifi setups.

anyone in the PNW use this? I usually just use google to get a sense of what I'm stepping out into, but would something more "locally measured" like this be more accurate?

I have this unit for 2-3 years now - pretty good price here. this is pretty accurate overall, and was easy to setup and use - the display has more records than I really need- but its nice to know they are there if you need them. The internal rain gauge tipping bucket type mechanism is tried and true, and can be calibrated if you desire to fine tune it more. Only issue I had was the dog kept knocking over the outside part- so I moved it fro m the ground to my deck railing and used the screw holes in the base to secure it.

I have one of the more complete systems in PNW.
It's fun to know actual rainfall vs the localized/general amounts. If you're really into your landscaping/gardening it's useful info

Just got my first irrigation system. Is this worth picking up to gauge watering needs for a novice? I'm used to smart tech but am more light appreciation than a hobbyist

Same question. Does this hook up to an app programable irrigation system? TIA!

It hooks up to the screen and would require an Acurite hub or an rtl-sdr 433 usb dongle if you're trying to connect it to HomeAssistant. As-is this doesn't stream data to WeatherUnderground or an app. Ecowitt has ones that support HomeAssistant or streaming data to WU which would potentially open up a data connection to your irrigation system but that depends on how you control that.
