I like the look of this coffeemaker. Knock-off? Absolutely, but it seems to be a very fair price if it copies the brewing performance of a Technivorm. It's a lot classier than my wife's "Flex-Brew".
They have a heating element under the glass pot that boils the water and the resulting pressure forces water up through a central tube which pours water over the grounds, which drip into the pot.
The downside of these machines is that the coffee stays warm by adding heat. The heating element both heats the pot and boils the water. This cooks the coffee.
A better machine would use a vacuum insulated steel carafe instead which keeps coffee warm by preventing heat loss rather than adding heat. Otherwise they act the same.

Simply Good pulls the same garbage.
If you don't want to sell a non-thermal carafe, don't. (For clarity, I don't want a thermal carafe either -- we agree on that point)

Give me a 14-cup maker and you'll have a customer!
You boil water and pour it over coffee grounds. Get a drip maker with a vacuum carafe and a program feature so you can wake up to he smell of coffee.
I was skeptical of how good a Moccamaster would be and was surprised it was nearly as good as a proper v60 pour over.
You're not gonna get that nice clean taste of a Chemex or the ease of a Aeropress, but it's amazing for what it is.
That said, this seems like a copy of that Moccamaster and for the price it might be worth trying.

BTW, physics has nothing to do with, I believe the word you are searching for is "chemistry".
