This kit makes no sense. The real one the charges using the usb port on the controller is $15 at Walmart.com. No sure getting 2 warrants this price given the way it charges and replaces the battery cover

I guess the reasons these third party kits exist is because it's rare to find the official kit on sale, using a USB C port a half inch lower than the existing one isn't big deal for most people, and the second battery means you can play wirelessly while charging your second pack.
As for why only the MS official one charges using the existing USB C port, I guess it's cheaper for them to manufacture.
To each their own though. I've had the MS kit, Ponkor rechargeables with charging unit, Svetaecho with built in USB C and replacement covers that I haven't had a chance to use as I've no idea where I put them, ones that come with their own charging stand and the only time I've even thought about them is when the battery comes to the end of their life and doesn't hold much of a charge.

Just as a precaution, these batteries do NOT last for very long. Within a year or so they very quickly lose their ability to hold a charge and die about 50% faster than when brand new.

You're better off just using standalone rechargeable AA batteries instead.

I switched to Eneloop/Equivalent recharable batteries and they have held the same charge for about 3 years now. They still perform brand new

If you ARE going to get these, it is still better than buying normal AA batteries as you can get about a year's use out of them for 12 bucks. So it can be a good deal regardless. Im just pointing out that you would be better off spending a few more dollars for a top brand of rechargeable AAs and a good charger.
