Avoid these. When you need it years down the line the battery will be dead.

Just get an analog one and keep it in the glove box. 30 years from now will still work and no battery issues.

Been there, done that.

these are utter garbage. completely disposable. not even worth the inordinate hassle to remove every screw that holds it together to change the lr44 batteries that die in a couple weeks, that most don't have. then have it never go back together right. spend 2 bucks more and get one that has a battery door and uses regular batteries you have in your kitchen and you can actually trust the reading.

Why assume it's for people who don't know how? Maybe people want it for the better features: a light to help you see what you're doing, a screen that can be read even in the dark, numbers big enough for people with vision impairments to read.
