I'm aware of the times we are in, but $182 for 6TB of spinner is not it.

It's crazy how much prices on hard drive have gone up. The same ssd drive I bought 2 years ago is selling today for twice the price

Showing $299.99 for me now. Looking at the KeepA price history, the price appears to have jumped back and forth from $183 to $300 since May 14th. What's up with this?
If Amazon is going to custom "adjust" prices for each person, then websites like SD no longer have value.

Echoing everyone here, it's wild to see the same products I could buy off eBay just 9 months ago now going for more than double. It's good and bad for me, because I have sold used RAM, SSDs, HDDs, CPUs and PCs for a little over 10 years now, and I have never, ever seen anything like this.

I was able to offload something like 120 hard drives, a bunch of DDR3 / DDR4 / DDR5 and SATA SSDs at much higher prices than just months before. It was a great time to get rid of things that had become low-margin. Now however, I wince when I find myself needing something like a 2TB NVMe, or 32GB DDR5. Those prices are becoming brutal. CPUs so far have evaded the massive price spikes, with a few exceptions.

For the deal at hand, this is around one of the better prices I've seen for a good quality 2.5" 6TB HDD. Just know what it can and can't do well. Hard Drives are one of the best ways to store things for long term storage, and still the cheapest dollar per TB you can find. Random read/writes are where hard drives suffer, so don't store games on these, unless they are your roms collection. They are clearly being hoovered up in the datacenter bubble, so these prices will be holdings and possibly going higher this year until the bubble pops.

You only wince because of what the prices were before. Back in 1996, I bought a 1GB SCSI hard drive. Cost me $600 in 1996 dollars. That is equivalent to $1240 today per the AI. Compare that to 6TB for $200-$300! 😁

Why haven't the cheaper Chinese brands not flooded the market to take advantage?

I actually would've bought this. Fit a need for a price I could manage. Now that it's up to $329... no thanks
