Love my Encore Essential 2! It's easy to carry around and provides more than enough volume/bass for most occasions. I also own a JBL Flip, Charge, and 320. It connects to my 320 flawlessly.

I've also seen the "Encore 2 + two microphones" on sale for a similar price, so there's two things to note:
1. (This) Encore Essential 2 has a built in battery, while the "Encore 2" (different version) has a removable battery
2. (This) Encore Essential 2 has a microphone/guitar port with a toggle switch, while the "Encore 2" only has a guitar port
- from my understanding, there's a difference between the two and connecting a microphone (or wireless dongle) into the guitar-only port won't work for the "Encore 2"

Do you think this is a good deal if I don't care about the wireless microphones? I'm having trouble deciding because of the two different encores

I don't have the Encore 2, but I think on paper it's supposed to sound slightly better (different tweeters for high pitched sounds). Probably not a big difference in person. Other than that, they're essentially the same.
I karaoke pretty often, so I like having a 1/4in "microphone" port on the Essential 2. It lets me connect different mics (vs being stuck using the JBL wireless mics). I never planned on buying extra batteries, so the non-removable battery doesn't bother me at all.
The Encore 2 has extra led bars in front for more "visual effects" and also has removable battery. It's also a nice deal since it comes with 2 microphones for pretty much the same price as the Essential 2 (which doesn't come with microphones at all).
You honestly can't go wrong with either choice!

Hey Scooby!!! Go to SAMs or find someone that has membership and get the Encore 2 for $229!!! It's much better with battery life and it comes with a Mic!!! I know you don't care for the Mic but in parties or Graduation coming up. You will use that mic to scream into when you calling your kids!!! Thank me later!!!
